I have a 2001 Interstate.  It will not start in neutral with the stand down.  Neutral light flashes when you pass by neutral but light never stays on in neutral.  The only way to start it is with stand up, and clutch in.  It will start in neutral or in gear when you do this.  Looking for advice thanks.

I would say your neutral light switch needs repair or replacement. With the sidestand down the engine has to be in neutral to start. If your neutral light is not lit the bike thinks it's in gear even if it is in neutral.  The other thing that points to the neutral switch is you say you have to pull the clutch in to start . Again the bike thinks it's in gear because the neutral light is not lit. I have no idea where the switch is or how to test or how it works. Maybe you can let us know once you repair it.

Thank you for the reply.  The neutral switch is inside the left engine cover down by the left foot.  Was suspecting this thanks for confirmation.   Also thanks for note about duplicate posts  will delete this one .

You can't delete the post once someone else posts to it, it's now a thread.

One reason I mentioned in the Tech section, you needed to delete before a reply was posted.

Hope to see you around, maybe meet up with the riders in Seattle and we'll all join sometime in the future.

I sent you and email with the link to the Valhalla Rally.

Ride safe.
