I'm wondering how some of you plan your longer rides around weather. There has to be an easier way than how I've been trying to do it.

Accuwaeather for long range forecast pre-ride planning. Whatever they say on the long-range, plan for the opposite. Works 100% MyRadar and Rainy Days are good phone apps while riding travelling. I use these for maps, too. Looking at some of these apps right now, in case any interesting travel opportunities arise soon...

I personally don't plan trips around the weather as such. In other words, if I planned a trip around Lake Superior for late September the weather would not be an issue until I hit the road. Then, I sort of keep track, might modify my departure time to miss some rain or other events. On a trip to Nova Scotia several years ago, we had to modify our plans when we spent two nights in Halifax. We were going to ride the "off day" but instead since it was raining, we rented a car and took a tour of a coal mine off the coast (well we were on the coast, it was under the coastal waters. its hard to find a reliable source for weather since, by it very nature, its unpredictable more than 24 hours out. But, if I want to see what might be happening I use this site. https://www.wunderground.com/weather/us/sc/prosperity/KSCPROSP24Its a little behind on radar imaging but I have compared its radar to other sources and they agree.

Thanks for the info. I have a 3 day window for traveling to Inzane. I prefer to stay dry if I can but will be on the road no matter. What I've looked up is very general info and it looks like waiting to leave until Sunday might be the only dry option but that means all super slab and I was hoping on taking my time this time. Now I have more sights to check out and maybe better options for a dry route.

I the last 8 years I have taken about 5 long trips about a week long. Each one of them I had at least one day of rain in which I kept riding.

Roanoke I stayed just ahead of the rain. Taos I found rain in Kansas. Before it started the storm was awesome to watch while riding. I still kept going after the rain started just to watch the lightning.

The weatherman can't get it right how should you? Plan for decent weather, prepare for bad weather. You can try prayer but I do think God finds humor in seeing motorcyclists in the rain and hail. How have you been trying to do it?

How have you been trying to do it? Basically I pick cities along the way and look up their local weather, very time consuming but it was the only way I had found to look a couple of days ahead. I know anymore than a day or two is dreaming lol.

There is an app for android called Highway Weather. Put in your location, or let it find you, and your destination and it will give the best time to leave. I just found it and have not used it enough to be familiar, but will use it before leaving for Inzane Sunday morn.

Unfortunately, I don't or haven't in the past, planned well. I've got myself in uncomfortable and dangerous stuff because of it. But, it just adds to the adventure. For me, good planning is simply rain gear, boots, gloves. Maybe, I'll change now that I have no work schedule. Dennis from Blythe hooked me up with MyRadar. It was nice to have a couple times.

Weather forcasts have never been much of a factor being as job wise I had to put in for certain days off and it was cut in stone. I always just took the weather as it came. Once rode from Houston to ride the dragons tail in NC / Tennesse with a Harley friend. started raining just before we got there. Didnt want to ride 318 curves in 11 miles in a driving rain so holed up in a hotel.......for 3 days it rained. Finally we headed home with our tails between our legs and it rained all the way to the Louisiana/Texas border. That sucked.
