What is going on here? I look everyday on ebay for parts, looking for deals and steals.

Pinwall just posted a batch of used parts, and the prices are higher than new. Ex: driver seat, $175. Procaliber, MSRP $123. Alternator cover, $89, but it's a POS, I've seen the same thing listed by Pinwall for $30.

Am I missing something, is nothing available or what? I think they have a new person listing. Why? Because these parts will fit the 97'-04' Valkyrie. Notice something wrong? The 04' is an 1800.

Has anyone started a discontinued parts list?

I don't have a lot of experience with Pinwall, but when I needed a wheel, I called and made an offer (under their asking) and they took it with no grief.

My response to prices being too high is:  " Compared to what".    Compared to the other bike strippers on eBay?   I think they are comparable.
I would say, more then  most, they have a better sense of what the market will  bear for used Valkyrie parts,  and I can take that as indicative of the supply and demand  releationship at the time.
In other words, they are not making them anymore, and although its a niche market demand is high for some parts, and if you check the completed sales they tend to get the asking price.
Over the years everything I have ordered from them has been exactly as advertised,  well packaged, and shipped quickly.   They are my go to resource for used parts.
I do find a sad Irony that the place where many Valks go to die is only a couple hours away in the same state of Ohio from where they were born.

I've used this Ebay vendor with success. $33 delivered for a clutch MC off a VTX1800.

I've used many of the regular parts dismantles over the past 10 years. I've paid good prices and I've paid great prices. Most of the time, it's been for things I wanted, not needed, so I could ignore the higher priced items.

I'm only beaking off on Pinwall. I'm not looking or comparing them to other suppliers.

When I parted out my wrecked IS, I used Pinwalls prices as a base for selling mine minus 10%, because I felt their prices where the fairest. I like them, and recommend them to all. But as I pointed out on the 2 examples, and the discrepancy in their regular pricing, it is ludicrous to pay that much. One was 50% higher and the other was almost 200%.

As suggested, something has changed, most likely at Pinwall.

I'm sure you could find some of their existing posts where the price is reasonable. I'm just pointing out on their current posts, and the lack of knowledge in the fitment. I'm pointing it out for others who don't know better, either price or fitment. Just like some of those China made replacement parts, that we should stay away from, or are awaiting reports back from those whom have bought them.

I agree, something seems different.

I purchased a used and broken (the mirror socket) front brake master cylinder/lever w/hose assembly from them.  I set it up to use to for removing caliper cylinders when rebuilding.

It showed up with a double bango bolt that did not seal, was definitely not a Valk part, and I believe not even a Honda part.

I contacted Pinwall and asked if they could forward the original part.

At first, I got a "You get what you get"  and "No way we did that" response.

After a couple of back and forth, somewhat nasty responses, the person at Pinwall decided, after looking at the picture I provided, the bolt was wrong.

Still claiming they (Pinwall) had not, could not mix parts and it must have been received by them that way, they refunded the $11.00 price,  which is what the bango bolt costs new.

What I can't figure out is how a bike could be received by them with a double bango bolt installed on a master cylinder and no one (experienced de-assembler) noticed.

It would have leaked all over, as the second set of holes on the bolt were exposed.

In the long run, they made it right, but it took some email arm twisting.

I will say, I've bought a lot of parts from them and that was the first negative experience.

The pricing is what the market will bear.

I have searched Pinwall for particular parts and find multiple parts listed and vastly different prices.  Often the better condition part is the cheapest... I figure with the amount of parts listed, I’m sure it is multiple people doing their listings...  and it all depends who is doing that particular listing and just pulling an average price out of the air.

Pinwall just posted another bunch of parts. More reasonable this time.

Maybe the same alt cover that was $89, now at the reasonable $30 again.

That one does have a fair amount of chrome wrinkle.  The "HONDA" portion appears to be intact.  It would be good for someone who wants to strip away the rest of the chrome, paint it, and leave the "HONDA'" in chrome.

Hey, if they're not wrinkled, they're not original.   Grin

The hole that takes the bolt is broken off. I'm sure that is the same cover I original saw for the $89 that started my post, and now is only $30. Which may have been the one I saw months ago with the same broken bolt hole that was also posted for $30.

I was thinking of buying it, fixing the hole (epoxy) and removing the chrome. But I have one somewhere that I already removed most of the chrome from, but I can't remember where it is?? It sucks getting older, and I'm not old yet!  Cry
