I have been chasing down and fixing various problems with my new to me Valk. One of the "situations" is a popping at idle and slow speeds while applying small throttle. Previously, I noticed my #3 header did not heat up as much or as fast at idle as all of the other exhaust headers. While fiddling with the pilot screws I noticed that when I pulled the spark plug cap off #3 and applied throttle the popping was not present. So to recap....at idle with a small throttle their is popping and missing but when #3 plug cap is pulled off the popping at small throttle stops?? All suggestions appreciated.

plugged pilot jet, leaking vacuum hose either the one on the intake or 'coast' valve, leaking down tube possibly at the O-ring seal

As above, blocked slow running pilot jet.   Doesn't pop when not in use !!

Thanks for the responses. #3 carb needs a cleaning.

If number 3 needs cleaning, then you might want to invest the time and expense to go through all six carbs.

I hate doing the same job twice by taking short cuts.  Others will probably disagree but that’s my opinion and practice.

Good luck...

I hear ya. I'm going to pull the entire carb bank at the end of the riding season and "reclean" and install new orings and may even go with 38 slow jets. Going to check those pesky air cut off thingies too.
But for now I was thinking of just removing (or at least trying to) #3 bowl to get at the jets and maybe shoot carb cleaner in the passages.
