Hi, I have restored a 2000 IS with 27K.  The bike ran good before restoration.  The runs fine, but does not have the zip it did before.  I open the throttle, and it sounds like its trying to go, but does not have pickup.  It likes like the timing is retarded.  I changed the timing belts, and lined up all the marks.  No backfires, run smooth, but no zip.  What did I do wrong?

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Check vent line. Do you have any fuel line changes? Any added fuel line changes usually reduce fuel delivery.

Did you have the tank off??  Maybe kinked line from petcock to carbs??  Stock petcock??  Bad vacuum line from #6 to petcock so not opening fully??

How long did the carbs sit while you did everything. I had the same issue with mine, ran perfect (so I thought) but no get up and go like my tourer. Pulled filter box and realized 1 slide wasn’t opening. Pulled and rebuilt carbs and now it runs perfect. If they sat for a bit, could be something as simple as that.
I would check all intake tubes and make sure they’re all on and seated correctly, no vacuum leaks. Depending on how much you took apart I would also make sure the coils are all back in order and firing.
Sounds like something simple just need to find it.
