I saw a news item today about the selection of musicians for (what's the word??) orchestras. Currently musicians are selected shielded from those making the decision so race, gender, ect cannot be an issued.
The news article said someone was either suing or taking some action to make the selection process more diverse. So, I thought what about sports. What is the makeup in pro sports and should there be some changes to make the process more diverse. Here is what one website had for information
Major League Baseball: "With people of color making up 42.5 percent of MLB players, the league has one of the best diversity scores among the four major sports. Last year saw the highest percentage of Latinos, 31.9 percent, in the last two decades."
National Basketball Association: "While the grade for gender hiring across the league decreased for the third consecutive year, there was a large increase in the grade for racial hiring. With 80.7 percent of players being people of color, the NBA takes the lead among men’s sports for player diversity."
National Football League: "The NFL dropped half a percent to 90.7 percent in TIDES’ race report. The league is primarily composed of African-American and white players. The percentage of players of color has slowly risen to over 70 percent since 1997; the percentage of white players reached a new low, 27.7 percent."
