Linking AwesomeDad's  center cover thread first....
http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,112290.0.html

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I received my center cover back from the painter (yay) and looking for info on reassembly....

Bolting in back in place is ez, but I'm asking if anyone could take a few photos, from the backside.
I'm interested in the seat cable routing, how it snakes together. In the same area is the ground, the radiator overflow hose and the tank breather. Just looking for how the stock routing of all pieces is, so I dont have to create my own.

I think I can get the seat lock back in place simple enuff with the spring clip to fasten it and as someone said mount the tip over switch in the correct orientation. Yeah - up is UP  Wink

Like I mentioned the main interest is how the seat lock cable is routed....

Thanks for any help....

Just a teaser, got back the side cover too. (Geez its dusty)

My bike isn't around, does the service manual show the routing?

Blue painter's tape or something... don't want to pull your new paint job off while
trying to protect it...

I just googled "blue painter's tape" and all the pictures
that came up are the right stuff... ScotchBlue might
be the original brand... "blue painter's tape" of some
kind will be at all the places like Lowes and  Home Depot...

If you look (like at a Lowes). There is regular painters tape and some that are low stick. I have had the regular painters tape damage fresh paint as well

So I treked to Lowe's and they had the blue tape, but none of the low stick.... Back to Amazon and recieved yesterday....

Trying out the delicate surface tape...

Taped up the cover and got it installed...

Reattaching the seat lock set with clip and then trying 40 attempts to get the cable attached was the worst part. The area is so constrained.... not fun.

I dont remember that the cover has somewhat of an angle on it. There's only 3 mount points, the grommet, and 2 side bolts. Also it doent seem to fit as tight as I remember.

Another thing.. It worked best to just get the cover mounted first, then feed the clutch hose, and other hoses as you go.

Last thing is I am finishing up all connections, and did the rear lights, theres 5 wires and same 5 on the harness connection...easy.

But, I have this left over 2 connectors????? Shocked One wire is green/possible yellow stripe, and the other is kinda sea green with red.... ---- There are no loose connectors around by the starter relay area...
Anybody have a clue? I looked a the wire diagram, but that doesnt help.

To connect the lock cable to the centre cover, I used the long handle 90' needle nose pliers I bought from BonS for the digisync (Harbor Freight).

Accessory connection likely, keyed circuit 5 amps, works good as control for an accessory pannel feed relaay

@indybobm and @Madmike -  thanks for that.. was driving me nutz..

@gordonv --- HF sells a set of hose pull off pliers which are long nosed  that I bought a while ago  and strangely the small one was perfect for  holding the spring clip nicely to install it, still wasnt fun.  - And the cable, just was dumb luck to get it on by hand....

Also ---- as a BTW --- Thumbs up on the Scotch Delicate Surface tape. Pulls off really smoothly and no adhesive is left behind - very nice. I will be using it in more spots.  cooldude

Cheers

I connect the cable Before seating it in the grommet. Leave it leaning forward not that difficult.

Thats probably a good way to go too. On mine I wanted to stay focused on not damaging the cover. It all worked out...  Smiley
