Hello everyone! I'm the proud new owner of a 1999 IS...55K, grn/sil, almost mint. I saw a pic the other day (can't remember where) of an IS with some mesh material behind the openings in the lower fairing and below the windshield. Anyone know if there's some sort of tutorial on doing that specifically with an IS?

Thanks!!

Mike

Hi Mike, welcome to the show.

No, there has never been a how-to in the last 10 years. msd I think did show a picture of his pods off and the mess on the inside.

As for the fairing, never seen the mesh, but have heard of people using filter screen from the furnace, to screen out the bugs going in. Just force it in, so air can flow, but catches bugs.

Go to lowes and there is some mesh gutter guard type material that is metal. Take pods off and cut to fit the openings spray paint silver or black. Mount inside and put pods back on. The opening in the fairing is a bit tougher because you have to take the front of the fairing off.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered some woven stainless mesh that ended up being too difficult (rigid) to work with (.8mm diameter wire). I ended up finding some cool looking mesh at Custom Car Grilles...I'll let you know how it turns out!

msb said he used his fender grill for the mesh, since he replaced it with a metal one.

Low/No cost.

Engineered to keep bugs out and let air in.

Black in color, so when it's installed, you can't see it.

Any roofing contractor will have extra.

A 1' piece will probably last a life time.

I thought the material was lathe, the material used for your scratch or brown coat before the stucco color coat.
