I don't use my center stand very often, and invariably when I do, I find the pivot to be pretty stiff for lack of lubrication. A remedy would be to drill the mount to place a zerk fitting on each side to get some grease in the joint. When swinging it through it's travel, it doesn't seem to have much clearance to allow a grease fitting.

Has anyone done this, or what's the common solution? I spray it with Kroil when I find it dry, that works for just a short time.

most kroil products are solvents.

U need a spray lubricant, and not WD40.

I only use mine about 1-2 a year, usually for storage, have never found the stand an issue, only getting it up onto the stand.

I drive onto a board, lifting the rear another 1-2 inches, and then using the proper method, get it onto the centre stand.

Lithium grease/white grease if you want.

grease attracts dirt/grit/sand I wouldn't use that.

Mine is fine.  Looks like the stand part (legs) will come off the mount by removing two self-locking nuts and pulling it sideways to remove - wonder if the nuts are overtightened???  I would take it apart and check for corrosion and contaminants and clean it up.  Doesn't look like there is much room to drill for a zerc.  Grease will attract and hold dirt etc. but it's not like this is a high movement/load point like a loader bucket in a mine so it may help with preserving and maintaining the bore.

Looks like you are around the ocean so you may want to use something that is anti corrosion like this

Here is a direct link to the manufacturer, they state that they fulfill US orders from California which likely easier that getting from Canada.  It is used on everything from firearms to circuit boards to anchor chains on large ships.

I had removed my centre stand, and when I placed it back on, I used a little antisieze. Like you said, it doesn't move much. I can't remember how tight I put those nuts back on, or even if there is a washer.

Thanks for the replies. I'll be doing some rear end maintenance in a few weeks and will pull the stand at that time. I'll disassemble, clean and lube those bolts up. Maybe leave them a bit looser than they are now.
Hopefully I'll be able to report a good result in the future.

Good on the anti seize. If you have a heavy construction company near you , see if you can get a squirt of hydraulic grease. A tube the last time I bought it was pricey.
Years ago I had a Pontiac water pump seal start to leak. I was lacking funds to replace. We tapped the weep hole and put in a grease zerk. Pumped in the hydraulic grease and drove almost a year before I replaced the pump. It still was not leaking.
