There (originally) used to be only 2-peice dampers for std/tourers where the rubbers and metal inserts were both required, and you poked the inserts in yourself.
The interstate dampers later came as a one-piece design, with the inserts already inserted onto the rubbers, and they were cheaper, and better designed. But both versions would work in any model or model year Valk. I thought Honda carried both for a while, but later discontinued the 2-piece (because making both was stupid in the supply chain, and anyone who knew the difference would always get the cheaper and better one-piece versions).
This is why when I earlier posted the link to the damper part numbers, I used the '99 interstate, because those are the ones you want. I used the ProCaliber website parts fishe, but you may find them cheaper.
I will post a part as the correct one to an inquiry on here, but I'm not going to do the shopping around for best price.
Thanks Jess, I was going through part #'s and trying to remember where this was mentioned, the full explanation is what I needed.
