Prince andrew has been plastered all over the TV during this pandemic. Well, he's back at it. Only now he is begging everyone that has left NYC to come back. People are leaving both the city and upstate as fast as they can. I am too, as soon as I can convince JoAnn.

I have been telling clients to sell multi family houses and get out for years

Andrew is depraved
DiBlasio is as well
Judge Marks is clueless  has no plan to open the courts

Granddaughter is half an hour away, at least we are in the Hudson Valley which if you have been here is just gorgeous

I think upstate NY is gorgeous. Always have. We live in a beautiful part of the country. I just can't stand the way its being run.
I used to travel the Hudson valley quite a bit. I've stepped over its headwaters.

I've turned a wheel in Every State in Our fair Union and 2 Canadian Provinces and Old Mexico. All of those places I've been have Wonderful eye candy. BUT I can think of a hand full of states I would NOT live in even should they pay me lotsa bucks to do so. I will Not enumerate them here but most of them have a common thread which I will NOT touch on either. Sides-I'm HAPPY in SoMo and see no reason to leave. As for those states I will NOT enumerate-should every one leave-doubtful-Maybe just maybe the population gits low enough those left-doubtful again-may see the light. RIDE SAFE.

I rode ‘70 > ‘99 in North Jersey and Southern NY. There were just so many nice rural roads and something always going on. Lime bag runs and swap meets, Marcus Dairy and Sugar Loaf.

I loved getting the fresh Florida Onions from that coal black soil there, the candles from that shop in Sugar Loaf (He rode Euro Sport bikes) and the Teriyaki Portabello Mushroom sandwich from the tavern next door. The Red Apple Rest is no more and Davis Sport Shop occupies the H-D shop I once worked in. And now I just heard the Nat Sherman Cigar Store is closing in NYC. I used to take the ferry over to buy cigars there and then coffee at a place on 10th ave and 42nd.

Perkins Memorial Drive was usually fun on my tricked out Sportster but not so much on the Valk.
I liked Silver Mine over Sebago and once hit 115 on that road through Sterling Forest.

And yet as much as I miss all that I’m still not sorry I left NJ to move to Texas when a company offered to pay the ticket. Now we have Californians moving here to ruin things as well.

God Speed.

Don't leave, please stay there. I see it all the time, people move away from places like that shithole and once they settle down elsewhere they start doing the same things they were doing up there, Want things the way they were up there, start voting in the same kind of idiots, and before too long the nice place you moved to starts resembling the shithole you left.
Stay there.

I see that and its why I'm getting out. If you think I'm like those people then I guess you don't get it. I fit in. I ain't 'staying there' for much longer.
I've seen what the downstaters and those from north Jersey have done to parts of the Adirondacks and other locations.

Isn’t it interesting that a small handful of people, relatively speaking, have the power to make the majority of the population  miserable and the voters just can’t overcome the political machines that rule their lives? All I can say is welcome to Kentucky! We reverted back to a Democratic Governor this term because we had a Republican Governor who was a transplant from the northeast, no offense intended, who started slapping around the teachers and a couple of other large voting blocks and it was game over.

But we have been on the “right side” of most recent national elections so there is still hope. So, come on down, except for the state income tax we have it’s fairly reasonable cost of living.

Its a beautiful state. Haven't spent a lot of time in it but what time I was there it was nice. Nice country side and people.
I think I would be happy to switch taxes with you. NYS taxes are oppressive, at least I think they are. The Florida taxes are more manageable.

We loved Kentucky, didn't think we would ever leave there.   Having said that, John is correct about Kentucky's taxes and it's financial situation.   Kentucky has the worst funded retirement system of all state governments.    This is obviously a concern for retiree's.

On the other hand, Mississippi does not tax retirement income.   Cost of living is significantly lower and we have a conservative governor.   It's not paradise and doesn't have the terrain relief (for motorcycling) we enjoyed in Kentucky but, we're enjoying it.

I don't mean to put words in anyone's mouth, or even worse twist the words they themselves formed, but I took phideux's comment as a more generalized thing and not aimed at any of the fine, decent intelligent folk in this community who may currently find themselves stuck, for whatever reason, behind the iron curtain...

There are few more in favor of The Republic of Texas building a border wall to keep the cancer of leftism from moving here, but even I would welcome most of the membership here and accelerate their path to Texas Citizenship even...

Being that I don't live in Texas, I don't really have a dog in that fight but, will offer this advice.

A border wall will definitely distract from any scenic view that might be offered and block the wind.   But, a simple and effective mine field will allow you to take in the scenery, see them coming and, let a nice breeze through.   Wink
