Had the tank back on my interstate, fuel sending unit installed properly with wires to the back of the tank, with a full tank it shows one flashing bar on reserve No matter what level of gas in the tank. I have never experienced this before with any Of my bikes and they all have I/S tanks. TIA

Maybe just recheck the connections providing it was Correct before working on it and wire disconnect? RIDE SAFE.

I did before bolting the tank on, it’s plugged in snug.

Actually a very usual problem, and something that hasn't come up much in the last 10 years.
The sending unit is installed improperly, maybe?
The wire needs to be towards the rear of the tank. If it's not, the above is exactly what happens, the sending level unit isn't registering the lift, it's jammed.
Please confirm.

As stated in my post wires are pointing to the rear . Now the question is ! is there A specific directional way to rotate it inside the tank to achieve the end result of the wires pointing towards the rear of the tank, that could be my problem, I’m just not sure where the float arm inside The tank should be

Most likely thing I can think of, is the arm and/or float hanging up. Pain in the butt, but probably best to take it all apart and check it.

Hey Rob, I took it out of the tank put next to a spare sending unit I have , same float arm position and components, installed it again wires towards the rear, same reading ,flashing on reserve. Can’t figure out what’s happening.

When I once put my IS tank back on and forgot to plug in the sending wire, I got the same reading (flashing led) you are. So plugged in or not, it's acting like it's not plugged in. Corroded contact or broken wire under the insulation? There's no separate wire to buy, it's the whole unit or nothing (#18). https://www.procaliber.com/oem-parts?aribrand=HOM&arian=MOTORCYCLE#/Honda_Powersports/GL1500CFA_(99)_VALKYRIE_INTERSTATE%2c_USA%2c_VIN%23_1HFSC410-XA000001/FUEL_TANK/61347acc-638e-40e4-aa4f-0fceb839ab88/d07a9f13-6aef-49ad-9246-05928373cbdb/y With a reset #1 trip meter at every fill-up, I use 220 (miles) to reserve more than my gas gauge, once I'm down to one or two leds left. My bike routinely alternates back and forth between flashing or one or two leds, when riding at the end of every tank. Full right to the neck at every full-up, I go to or over 50 miles before I lose a single led.

Jess..the Bike has only over 27k miles on it , have taken the tank off before but not the fuel sending unit till thus time I had to change the O ring, the way the unit is in the tank now is wires on the plate are towards the rear of the tank placing the arm to the left of the tank, that’s the only way it would go in for me and now it’s giving me this reserve flash reading unless there’s a different way of putting it in.

you can check the sender, scroll down this post and it shows the sender and the 90-3 ohm swing, 90 being empty. This kinda lines up with comment by Jess about high resistance showing low fuel level. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,35073.0.html

Larue, my post assumed you have it all installed correctly. So if that's not the problem, I was saying it's a broken wire under the insulation, or the plug. So no signal getting thru gives the same empty tank flashing led on the dash as leaving the unit unplugged.

You said you have a second unit? Plug that in and see if you can get your LED gauge to change.
About the unit going in easily. I've never removed mine, but most have said it's hard to get the unit in correctly clocked, which is why most put it in "the easy way" and it reads low always. Mine did on my 1st Valk, but I wrecked it before being able to check it out, tank sold to John S.

Take the sending unit out of the tank, connect the plug and rotate the arm the travel arc. Easier to troubleshoot this way.

Larue, keep in mind when you have the tank in front of you and you're installing the sender, the sender & tank at that time are upside down. To test it, you need to put the sender right side up in a bucket of water. You can move the arm up/down manually but it's not the same as a floating arm.
