Sitting at my computer fixing to get dressed to go riding when the house shook for 15 seconds with a pretty good rumble waking my daughter up and she sleeps good. I live near the Martin Marietta Quarry but never knew them to blast on Sunday. Finally the news started talking about it there were 2 Earthquakes this morning. A 2.6 magnitude followed a little later by a 5.1 at 8:07 AM 2 miles from Sparta NC. Never experienced that. First time for everything I guess.

Nuttin in Maggie Valley. I was bed dancing (no, not that - just bed dancing) and didn't feel any additional shaking.

The mountains must have absorbed the shaking.... 2funny

Nothing felt here in Moore County.  We are about 30 miles from the geographic center of NC.  Pinehurst is the famous place in our county.

Looked at a map of where it should have been felt and it showed it
didn't make it that far. Back in 1997 I got to go to the Pinehurst
Country Club for a Managers retreat when I ran a Concrete plant.
We stayed in a Cabana there. We ate there on Saturday night rare
Prime Rib with a crusty outside. Best I ever had. My friend and I
tried to give the man carving it 50 dollars for half of one leftover
but he was scared to do it. We were suppose to go to the Rockingham
Cup race but it got rained out. Besides getting to golf there most of
our free time was spent in Aberdeen at a place called Gold Dust.  Shocked

I have friends and relatives in Whitmire, SC saying they felt it... Some reports it was felt as far away as Atlanta...

So far no reports of damage or injuries, so that's good at least...

cooldude  Couple of my friend in Gaffney and Blacksburg SC called
me this morning and said they felt it. Just a little rumble.
I saw pictures of the Food Lion grocery store in Sparta NC. A few
products had fallen off the shelves but it didn't look too bad.

Bristol, TN-Va folks tell us it shook the dishes in the kitchen.

In the Sandhills:

That strip joint is still in Aberdeen.  It has changed names a couple of times.  The diner restaurant is still next door.  They give you a lot to eat, but it never appears particularly sanitary.  Rockingham is now a ghost track.  Last racing there was in 2006.

Twas a good Strip Club.   cooldude  As for Nascar I don't think it will survive much longer. As if it wasn't stupid enough here lately it has been unbelievably stupid.

My brother lives just below Augusta GA. He called and told me he was sitting
on his porch this morning and felt it. Earthquake covered some ground today.

cooldude Glad it wasn't like the ones I have seen on TV out west. Funny
my daughter was woke up by it here and told me to stop. I sometimes
wake everybody up by making noise or shaking their bed etc. When
she saw it wasn't me she got curious asking what was going on.
Told her dunno we will see I guess.

Some years ago, we had our only noticeable earthquake in Alexandria (and surrounds) (in almsot 30 years).

I happened to have both bikes out of the shed at the time, and it was pretty strange watching both bikes rocking and rolling on their kickstands in my driveway.  No damage, but a weird moment.  I thought I had left all that behind me after leaving SoCA where it happened more often than rain.

you really need to quit jumping on the bed to get her attention to make you breakfast and go make your own.
