Zwarte Piet is a traditional figure of the Dutch Sinterklaas celebration where small children get presents through the chimney (much like Santa Claus), not on X-mas but on the 5th of December.
Since Zwarte Piet resembles a negro, this century old tradition has been hijacked by a small group of radical BLM figures who cause riots and havoc among thousands of children who are trying to catch a glimpse of Sinterklaas when he visits their community.
As of today, they managed to ban Zwarte Piet from Facebook and Instagram.
I feel like part of my tradition, culture and heritage has been taken away from me by some black immigrants and the Dutch politically correct government.
Consequently, I will no longer be a member of Facebook and Instagram.
It has been a real pleasure while it lasted.

Lesa took about a 6-week hiatus from FaceBook as well. I have never been on it but I can certainly understand.
Well, Beer, I certainly hope this means we will be seeing more of you on this forum. Love learning about the world and seeing it through photos from folks I get to know through here.

All large media corporations are now above the law and that goes for Facebook, CNN and the NYTimes
We have used anti trust laws to break up monopolies in the past
Sometimes successfully like the Bell corp into 8 baby bells and some not successfully (IBM)
but like the cyborg in Terminator 2, they scurry back together again eventually.
It is time these behemoths were taken down along with the Federal Reserve
At least TikTok may have been stopped as it is just the CCP in a thin disguise

Never been on Facebook or Instagram etc. Lucky to do emails and the forums. Facebook was started I understand by a guy that said something to the effect of hey lets get all these fools to tell everyone all about themselves and what they do and where they are.

FB is a choice as is the TV you watch, radio you listen to and the media you read.
Do you get caught up in everything you see/hear from those?
For me FB provides a few fun animal videos to smile at.
The rest of it is mainly nonsense "white noise" that I easily block out and I don't read nor care about it.

I had never heard of this figure in Christmas lore. Is it just a Belgium thing, or is it celebrated in other EU countries ? They can never take your heritage, culture, and traditions away from you. It is up to you and others to carry them on. I'm having a hard time imagining the reaction here in the USA to having a Santa Claus figure in blackface. (It wouldn't be pretty) |

I've been on Parler for a while now, and there are limits to what they'll allow, but I've seen no bias protecting left or right. Any ideas are allowed, but repeatedly posting the "N" word, images of excrement, porn, spamming people will get you banned, regardless of ideology... The platform isn't perfect, it's more Twitter like than Facebook like in the flow, but they're making a good honest try at it as far as I can tell so far... |
