First off, I searched but couldn't find this. Second, I'm getting older fast and can't remember how I did this in the past. How do I replace the seal? The spring on the u-joint end prevents it just being a pull it off, put it on deal. Thanks for any help. And yes, I feel less smart for having to ask. uglystupid2

You'll need to compress the spring, and remove the circlip. It's easier to make a little jig to hold it in place. I just screwed in a couple screws into my workbench at the appropriate distance to hold it while I removed the clip.

Two tie wraps will compress the spring.  After the new seal is in and the parts are in-place, snip the tie wraps.  Done, and it costs about five cents.

To remove the clip, I use the right size vice grips.  Depress the spring, hold in place by vice grips, remove the clip.  so far the grips teeth have not caused any scaring on the shaft.

Always have several pairs of vice gripes in tool box, so always ready to go.
