Hello and thanks for any advise.  Having an issue with my wife's 2000 Interstate Trike.  Had a bad battery and changed it.  Afterwards nothing in the radio works.   Did have to move the wires around some when changing the battery.  I've held the on/off switch in for several seconds and it does not com on.  Only the clock works but can not change the time.  Swapped the radio to a backup and get the same symptoms but different time on the clock.  Checked the Radio fuse and it was good.

Any suggestions I can try?  Would seem to be a wiring issue.  Maybe a ground.  Is there a second fuse on an Interstate radio?  How would I check the radio ground?

iv'e seen those switches not work if they havn't been worked in awhile. you may wanna try and spray some cleaner in those switches to get them working. i don't think you have a wiring issue.

There's a wiring junction right in front of the battery box that can cause issues with various things. It only exists on the Interstate.

I think you can find a post about it if you search for "gremlins"....

It was Novavalker that did a write up on that.

Are  you referring to the main wire harness connector?

vanavyman, do you not have the owners manual? Send me your email address and I can forward the 6 pages from the manual for the radio controls.

It seems you haven't turned it on if all you have is the time.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

3W-Lonerider - Had BF take a quick look at it at InZane and he did a quick clean in the switch and looked around and did not see anything obvious wrong.  Maybe the switch itself could be bad?

Gordonv - Yes I have the owners manual and have pushed that off/on button several time for up to a minute or so and it does not change.  Still have the Clock but no radio.

Several guys mentioning the connector around the Battery - Read through some of the threads on this issue.  Getting around that connector being corroded does sound difficult.  Just had Reverse installed on her Trike a couple weeks ago and they took out that battery box and installed a much bigger one with a second Large battery.  Would think the Connector would be close to the same location since it seems to be in the wiring harness.  I'll try and get these out of the way and look for the connector inside the harness.

Let me know if there are any other ideas and hopefully I'll get some luck looking around that harness.

There is a plug in wrapped in the harness close to the swingarm which gives trouble to the radio sometimes, hard to get to,you can see the bulge in the harness from under the bike.

Do you have the Service Manual?

Is the clock independent from the radio? I know the controls set the time.

Have you checked that the controls are plugged in, the one in the fairing?

I would check the procedures in the manual on testing.

Hal47 - thanks, I'm going to take it apart this weekend and look for that connector in the wiring harness and find out the condition of all the connectors / wires.

Gordonv - thanks, yes I do have the manual and will look at p 20-6 while also looking for that hidden connector in the wiring harness under the batteries.

If you have access to another IS, I would swap the controls.

On page 20-8 shows the pins for the controller. I wonder if you can jump them and get action from the radio?

Check the wires in the backs of the plugs and make sure non have pushed out. It’s possible that a wire pushed out and not making contact. Sounds like one simple connection, just have to find it.
