Moving ahead so life won’t pass me by.

Spring Hill, Fl.

« on: August 24, 2020, 04:30:02 AM »

We were at Disney’s Fort Wilderness trying out the new camper. Patti and I took the bicycles out Saturday morning for a tour of all the amenities they have In our area. We were riding on the sidewalk when she got distracted and went on the grass, as she tried to get back on the cement the front tire slid on the edge and she went down on the cement. She was transported to the hospital, the X-ray’s showed that she broke both her elbows. They wanted to put both arms in a cast. We decided that because the right elbow was not as severe as the left she would only get one cast. Both arms in cast would of meant she would have to be put in a nursing home for 8 weeks. She’s not in too much pain with the right elbow and the prescription she got for the pain will help if needed. We got there Thursday and we were supposed to stay until Sunday but had to leave on Saturday. Even though we left on a sour note, the time spent there was an amazing experience and will be going back, maybe with a trike. The first experience with camper was awesome too, no issues what so ever.

Sorry to hear about Patti. Hopefully she’ll recover fast and you can get back out there. At least the rest was good. Maybe a set of training wheels are in her future. LOL. Prayers for a fast healing.

Wow, amazing the damage a bicycle can do at low speeds. Well take care of her, and we wish a speedy recovery.

Please tell Patti that Roxie and I are very sad to hear of her accident, but glad to hear that she can get along with only one cast.

Undecided Bummer for sure. I'm glad she didn't get hurt any worse. Hopefully the pain will subside soon and perhaps a return trip sooner rather than later.  coolsmiley

I'm sorry to hear this too.  Embarrassed

I'm pretty sure bicycles are more dangerous to ride than motorcycles, at least for me.

I gave mine and the wife's to the neighborhood kids years ago... when she wasn't looking.

Oh my!  Please tell Patti that I wish her a complete recovery.  Whatever therapy she is required to do, make sure she does it religiously.  When I was younger, I decided to race a house up out dirt road.  I was ahead until my front wheel caught a rut and turn sideways, throwing me over the handlebars.  My chest and hands got scraped up pretty badly but no broken bones.  My Dad went down on his bike and broke a collar bone.  I guess that just goes to show that they can be just as dangerous to ride as anything else.  Be safe.

Thank you, everybody, for your get well prayers and speedy recovery wishes. Patti has read all the wonderful responses and has realized what a great group of people she has the fortune of knowing.
I Too hope she gets healthy fast, we have a bigger and better camping date in the mountains of Georgia coming up in October. This time she’ll be a back seat Passenger on my interstate.
