Inside look at Milwaukee Bucks' decision not to play game vs. Magic https://www.msn.com/en-us/s...id=spartan-dhp-feedsThe Milwaukee Bucks refused to take the court last night in an attempt to influence the Wisconsin government to do something about race relations and perceived police issues. Regardless of where one stands on the issues, I'm curious how folks view this action. I am personally not an NBA fan. Don't watch it, don't have a favorite team, don't care who wins, nothing. So, this action did absolutely nothing to influence me either way. I think it was a waste of time although, it has made the news. Maybe that was the goal. I don't know. NBA players are attempting to use their platform and risking support of their fans for something they believe in. I can understand standing up for what you believe in but, I wonder if such an action has any real effect. Rams

They have a very high opinion of themselves, me not so much. If not for money, we wouldn’t even know they exist. Sports can be a great teaching tool and that’s why high school sports are so important. By college and beyond they think they know it all. The only exception to my observations is for those who simply play for love of the game.

And if sportsball had a shred of decency left they'd call a team forfeiting a game exactly what it is and count it as a loss and fire them all.
On the ironic side, looks like the whiny overpaid sportsball players now have something in common with most of the decent people of this country - Boycotting sportsball!

Now since they want to end the season entirely, how about them getting out of their ivory towers to go to their people's of color areas to help them get jobs and a better living condition. Get kids in schools to get an education so they can better themselves.
Heck of a lot easier to just strut around with BLM t-shirts and run off at the mouth. Especially when the investigation into what really happened with the recent death hasn't been published yet.

Having stated that this "protest" has absolutely no impact on me. I'm one of those folks that really don't give a darn what any athlete or celeb thinks. Their opinion is no more important or relevant than mine. Ya think they care what I or you think? Rams

Soon as most of these over priced/paid sportsballers started kneeling during Our National Anthem I quit being a "fan". cursed hard if not near impossible for me because as I've stated before I Personally am familiar and knew 2 of those names on the Vietnam Memorial Wall. I also realize I helped protect their Right to protest. Don't no how no way mean I gotta like it. Destroying another persons home and lively hood and vehicles is NOT the way to go about "peaceful" protests. Maybe as someone else stated these overpaid sortsballers should start putting their money where their pie hole is. RIDE SAFE.

I have quit watching pro sports all together. They are not getting a dime from me. Never watched it to get someones opinion and take on current events. I watched because I enjoyed the game but that is long gone. I say fire them all and get someone who wants to play. Their money supply gets cut off maybe they will realize what they are being paid for.

I really hope that all the advertisers dollars that will not be coming in will bankrupt these sports teams. An end to millionaire players, coaches, owners. Let’s see if the players can even use there “collage degrees”. There may be a pro ball player working at a car wash near you. Might be your next Uber driver, Amazon delivery driver. On the collage sports ball players, how many can afford the collages they play for when the advertising dollars go away that support the paying for there tuition. In Minnesota the loss of advertising dollars that Gopher foot ball program has lost is impacting every non revenue producing teems. Many are being cut or are going to have to be booster supported. Coaches salaries have been cut and support staffing slashed.

Well I don't watch basketball, haven't seen a football game in a number of years, quit baseball in '94, so more family time and I get to spend more time at the range with the kids.
That may actually be a plus in the area I live. (Western Kenosha county where all the "rich white folks" live according to recent facebook posts.) Some of my neighbors are retired military, I doubt they are willing to let their homes be destroyed by terrorists.

I concur with the sentiments here.
I will admit to watching a lot of old college football games lately (which have no political horsesh!t going on at all).
Today on a couple of the ESPN sportsball news shows, which I only surf by, I hear some regular talking heads talking about how important it is for the athletes to be woke and help in all the important protesting going on.
And I'm thinking..... no it's not. If professional sports millionaires want to turn ESPN into CNN (and their professional organizations and owners are going to go along with it), then I'll watch those sports as much as I watch CNN (which is NEVER).
I can hardly wait to see some NBA all-stars up in Portland burning cars and throwing bricks at the the police.

good luck in Kenosha-Racine area. Make sure you are well armed and your kids, if old enough, know how to load guns and fire just in case. Sucks to be one of those priviledge rich white folks.. LOL I will stay where I am at in Green County where there are more cows/farm animals than people.... At least cows cannot carry weapons although cow vs. car collisions are becoming a yearly thing around here it seems. On topic, sure hope the NBA, MLB, and NFL all go down the tubes more so no sponsorship, etc. on these teams going out of their way to supposedly take a stand on the horrible things we all know are happening all over the US. I cannot wait to see Lebron James, and others, saying to me, would you like fries with that hamburger'.... working at MCd's....... I still do not know where are all the police are at seeing anyone armed in WI streets NOT being arrested ASAP? Last I knew that was illegal to do in WI whether in a peaceful protest or not. PEACEFUL to me means NO firearms present.

I did high school, college, ran a business in Kenosha-Racine. Left in 87. Have a son, grandkids and a brother in the area. My high school right there on the south side of the square where they are rioting by the court house. The church where my kids were in childcare daytime right next door to the Budget Motors where rioters attacked the owner. Do not miss the place or the cold grey weather. I haven't and now won't watch any sportsball with the whiney millionaires disrespecting the flag. Let's see how they succeed in life financially with no skills other than sportsball and shitting on the country when they have no sponsor money overpaying them.

There is apparently some confusion on what Professional Sports mean to this country. At least by the players and some networks.
There are many areas or expertise we as a nation need and if those "experts" were to take such a stand and protest by not doing their jobs, people in general would take notice. But, we don't need professional sports and their players. We typically enjoy their games but, to say we need them would be a significant stretch.
If, those players want to make a significant difference in helping a community or cause, then they need to get involved financially. Help their "cause" with employment opportunities, with educational grants and acting as role models. Sitting out a game, even if they don't get paid or fined is nothing but a publicity stunt.
While I never agreed with Kaepernick kneeling, at least he had a cause he believed in and was willing to stand up (or in his case kneel) and put his career in jeopardy. These current clowns risk nothing.

I think you made a wise move to CO vs. WI years ago. Is on my bucket list to visit Colorado some day.. Having lived in WI all my life probably not leaving, one state I would not move to is IL nearby me. Amazes me how many IL residents come to WI not only for vacation, but for jobs since not many jobs in northern IL apparently.
