We had a day in Vegas yesterday with Doctor appointments and such. We've had more than a few of these days in the last year as they've worked on Brenda's eye. After someone posted about Chick Fil A a while back, it's been part of our routine to hit them before leaving town. I've kind of settled on the 4 piece strips, sriracha sauce, unsweetened tea as my go to. This time I tried a peach shake. It was very good.
As we are headed out of town with our feast I realize I'm at 1/2 a tank of gas. We made it back with 10 miles to spare. But, as I'm checking the gauges I realize the outside temp is starting to really get up there. By the time we pull into the garage, it's at 124*  tickedoff This crap is getting old. Maybe it's just me, but this seems like the most extended summer I've experienced here. I'm over it ! Enough already  Shocked

Rob,

Sure hope there is light at the end of the tunnel for Brenda and you! Man, that surely has drug on for quite a spell... Extreme heat in the summer is not the friend of old guys, so north in summer, south in winter has become my mantra! Now that you've transitioned from the ranks of the gainfully employed to the ranks of the game-fully unemployed... perhaps it's time for you to give that some thought! Good luck in all cases!!!

As my best friend always tells me when I whine about Mississippi, "You knew it got hot and muggy in Mississippi before you moved there, quit yer bitch'n.".    I remind him of that every time he whines about it being windy and cold in South Dakota also.   2funny

No insult intended, just relating my story.

Just out of curiosity, how does the A/C in your car and home handle that temperature?

Brenda's Miata does great ! Our Nissan Titan, not so much. I think the interior size of the crew cab is just too much when it gets over 110*. We just popped for a new 5 ton Trane system a few months ago. It does great. The older Goodman did fine also, but a leak of the refrigerant while out of town did it in. It was going to cost nearly 2 grand for the old style stuff.
I'm just bitching ! I've found extreme heat easier to deal with than extreme cold. At least up till now. These last 3 months have just dragged on.  Undecided

I think I can relate to that!  I am really dreading this coming winter, they are really getting brutal.  -40° isn't something to boast about anymore.   Wink

At least you'rs is a dry heat!

Same but not Rob, I am so over this summer and we are not done!  Working on the house and the cottage as I have I take full on cold showers, if I don’t then I will still sweat in the AC after I towel off and get dressed. So full on cold showers and for a good 20 minutes.    Florida, why why did I move here at 21?

If Vegas was 115 it was 125 out at Lake Mead, I didnt mind the temps as much as I do in Florida. But you need to be careful because your sweat actually does it job and evaporates and does not sit on you like Florida. You can become dehydrated very easily. Here in Florida evaporation coolers dont work nearly as well as Vegas.

I saw somewhere that this is the hottest summer ever recorded in Phoenix.  I know my plants would agree.  I've got several agaves and cactus that have been fine in previous years, that won't make it through this one.  They can handle the heat if they get a little cooling at night, but that just isn't happening this year.
