Hi everyone:

I have searched the forum but not seen one exactly like this so I was hoping you could provide some guidance.  I found the right side rear carb and maybe the one in front of that leaks  - can't tell where it originates from - looks like its coming down the back side of the bowl - only while the bike run is running.  Once I kill the engine the leaking stops.  I have sealed the riveted side of the petcock with the appropriate gas-rated RTV, and I have a vacuum diaphragm kit coming from Honda, but that's probably not the issue.  Pinched vent line? Sticky floats?  Where would that leak be evident?  Leaky fuel rail o-rings?  I don't even know where the fuel rail is - yet.  I don't want to pull the carbs out and not find the source of the leaks - I'm not a carb expert so rebuilding everything seems a bit overwhelming, but just might be the right decision.

2001 I.S with 37k miles

Thanks,

Terry

I just took out my carbs and its not difficult if you follow the guy on youtube. He does an excellent series on taking out and cleaning the carbs. I watched it 3 times and that took away any doubt I had about doing my carbs. Just type in valkyrie carburators and it will pop right up. Start with part 5, 6 and 7. I cant offer any guidance about what that leak can be. You might be able to find it without totally removing the carbs. Ive heard of people removing the tank and airbox, then suspending the carbs to the frame with ties. Good luck, be sure to check out those videos. I'm sure someone with a lot more knowledge will chime in soon.

Thanks - I will definitely check the videos out.  I'm thinking the fuel rails are leaking at the o-rings based on the slight grunge I see around those areas.  And I also assume that to repair those the carbs must come out.  Time to watch those videos!

Tubes sealed with "o-rings" go in between the carbs to supply fuel to them,

rebuild kit and other stuff from from this supplier is popular

The bowl seals are not in the kit and can  be finicky.  If you did not order them already and your order has not shipped you may want to consider them.  They can be checked with a plexiglass plate and a mity vac style hand pump.
