I know some of you don't like the Rasmussen polls but I found this quite interesting. Hows that health care thing working out for him? Kinda strange that his biggest "accomplishment" would cause his lowest poll numbers. "The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 25% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-six percent (46%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21 That’s the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President"
"For the second straight day, the update shows the highest level of Strong Disapproval yet recorded for this President. That negative rating had never topped 42% before yesterday. However, it has risen dramatically since the Senate found 60 votes to move forward with the proposed health care reform legislation. Most voters (55%) oppose the health care legislation and senior citizens are even more likely than younger voters to dislike the plan."

It's not about what the people want... Afterall, we're just children, incapable of understanding such complex issues, that's why we have god-people in Washington looking out for our best interests FOR us, regardless of if we want them to or not...

I think it's disgracful how the gov't is proceeding these days.
Rushing bills through and openly admitting that nobody reads the bills that are voted on. Making disclaimers like it just NEEDS to be approved and they'll fix it later (WTF???). Refusing more time to someone speaking on the floor. Not inviting those that disapprove to be part of the discussion. Open bribery to gain votes from representatives who disapprove. Lying as to the cost, how it will be paid for, and who will be paying for it. More ear marks (of course)
On top of...... pushing through with climate change and promising $100,000,000,000 from our pockets to poorer nations that SHOUT negatively about the USA and to whom our leader apologizes to for our past actions..........after the data was demonstrated to have been misrepresented and Gore is caught repeatedly misrepresenting everything he speaks of. (notice that the few who used to defend the ice age warning of the 70's, the hole in the ozone of the 80's, global warming and now (since it's been demonstrated that this has been the coolest decade in a century) climate change (which is a normal thing) have stopped posting).
What gets to me most is the arrogance, arrogance, arrogance of these people. To push things through that the people don't want. To simply ignore the voices of opposition and to insinuate racism. So far Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, the Governor of Rhode Island, and several others (I can't recall off hand) have come out in the Liberal Press to emphatically state that the only reason for Obama's oppsition is racism.
I am ashamed of my government. I'm ashamed of the type of people it's made of these days.

RANT ON...........
Politics is just a 4 letter word using and 8 characters.
To the people of the world we real tennessee-ans KNOW that algore is an idiot, to our sorrow he was released from the funny farm to show his ignorance to the rest of the world. We apologize to the world for this unfortunate mistake.
Our only consolation is that he was not raised or educated in Tennessee. Now if we could just get him to leave and shut up.
...... RANT OFF
Thanks Pete

It is a shame, We need to VOTE THEM ALL OUT! Here is a very interesting concept on how it could change. Given the two party system we live under it may be the only way that it can be changed, at least in the near future. Take about 10 - 15 minutes and listen to the interviews, I found it refreshing that someone is actually trying if nothing else. http://goooh.com/home.aspxJim

I grew up in and just outside of Detroit, and left in '61 to join the Army. It was a great place to grow up. In high school, I never felt afraid anywhere in the city; I hung out with other musicians and would take the bus to get to jam sessions till all hours of the night. It was vibrant, exciting, full of promise. Went back for a high school band reunion a few years ago, and took a different street back to the hotel from the school. Scared the crap out of me, and I haven't been back since. My folks were Democrats, almost everybody was. Started out that way, but thank God I got smarter with time. My mother was a teacher, but didn't care much for the way crappy teachers were kept on due to seniority. Saw the same thing while in the union working for a defense contractor. Went back to school & got a degree in Software Engineering, no longer in the union. I've pumped gas (back when you could), been a janitor, done temp work, whatever was available. Wasn't looking for a hand out, and really don't want to pay to keep some lazy bastard fed and housed. Sorry if you didn't get to see Detroit in it's heyday, it was solid, and it's just a memory now.

Jeff K, Thank you for posting that video about Detroit. . . . It was both sad and frightening . . . and unfortunately, true!
You're bound to get 'flamed' by someone who doesn't live in the city, but attends a Tiger or Lions game (where there's a uniform cop ever 10 feet) and thinks they're an expert. The TRUTH remains; if you make a wrong turn in that cesspool of a city, you'll most likely get robbed, raped and maybe killed. And, if you have a white face, the odds go up! Someone can say that's racist if they want, but I'll give them the names of a couple of dozen streets. . . and next summer they can idle their Valk down one of them and see what happens.
About 10 years ago I attended a 5 day training course hosted by the Detroit PD. We were told prior to attending that those of us who were driving our personal vehicles to be careful choosing our routes to and from the training site (an old warehouse) and to have our pistols out, covered, in our laps, if we caught a red light at certain intersections. . . . He said; "especially the white officers."
Nothing has changed . . . . . "It is what it is" KW

If you quit on the city of Detroit, you are just that, a quitter. I refuse to let the criminal element win.

Just a word from someone who spent about 40 years conducting and analyzing polls. Rasmussen is about as reliable as Jeanne Dixon's horoscopes. In fact, with the exception of Zogby, Rasmussen is easily the least reliable and most slanted national polling organization. Ever wonder why Rasmussen shows up frequently on Faux Noise and nowhere else? Wonder why Rasmussen makes his bucks by selling subscriptions to his results to gullible right-wingers? Ever wonder Rasmussen is the only major pollster who predetermines the number of Republicans in his samples?
Rasmussen is a joke.

Good to see ya back on the forum. This reminds me of a conversation we had a few weeks back regarding Rasmussen and some of the other polling organizations listed on RealClearPolitics. There is no doubt that Rasmussen's results fall statistically outside the cumulative result of all the polling organizations, and it is consistently favors conservatives views...of course the same thing can be said for CBS and the Associated Press polls which favor the liberal point of view. You had mentioned that Rasmussen does not draw its sampling from a statistically random population, which at the time I agreed would not result in a statistically valid result. At the time you mentioned that Rasmussen explained their sampling techniques on the website, but at the time I did not have to time to check it out. I went to their website last week after things slowed down at work to check it out...but could not find what you had referred to. Could you please post the link where Rasmussen discusses their sampling techniques?

let me guess, Puff's Daddy, Gallup is "corrupt" as well. Well, they must be, since the numbers don't agree with what you think.

$300,000,000 to the representative of Lousianna $100,000,000 to the representative of Nebraska and a promise that Nebraska would never have to kick in for Medicare expansion (I thought Medicare was to be cut???) $500,000,000 to the representative of Massachusetts That's $800,000,000 of our tax money, so far, committed to the healthcare bill, and the damn thing hasn't event been signed into law. I would love to know what the 5,000 items in earmarks and pork amount to. Obama stated that 3/4 of the healthcare bill costs would come from the waste and fraud that is presently within Medicaire and Medicaide. In an interview with the Gov. of NY, Patterson stated that the amount of fraud and waste in NY would be neglidgable. (NY is one of, if not THE, most costly Medicaide states in the country). Bold face lies and now open bribery on the floor of the capital building. This administration is destroying this country. I'm no fool,....I understand that this stuff went on before, we just weren't aware. But these people have become so arrogant that they no longer feel the need to hide this shameful behavior and have done so on a scale never seen before. God Bless America, because the Democrats sure don't.

And now, OMB has said the Democrats are counting the Medicare "savings" of 500 Billion twice!
They are using it once to "save" Medicare for another nine years, AND they are using the same 500 Billion to "balance" the health care bill, so it "saves" money! What a rip off.
The OMB said they told them they could use it once, but not twice. But, they used it twice anyway.
What a bunch of CROOKS!
The dems in Congress make Bernie Madhoffs ponzi scheme look like a schoolboy's prank by comparison.
