We rolled out this morning with the temps at 25 degree's . Took the backroads all day and the temp's warmed up to near 50 today with nothing but sunshine.Made a few stops along the way the first in Oak Ridge , Tennesssee near the K-25 plant ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-25 ) . At its peak it took 25,000 workers to build and employed 12,000 folks after it was completed at a cost of 512 million if built today it would cost 6 billion . This is where the nuclear bombs was made that we dropped on Japan to end World War 2 .The building is under demolition right now with clean-up it could keep folks working for years at the start it was known only as the Manhattan Project ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manhattan_Project ) You folks that know my ridin' buddy Big Al he works at the sister plant to K-25 and they seem to be still going strong at that location.

Took some great backroads out of Oak Ridge along beautiful Watts Bar Lake and made our way out by Watts Bar Nuclear Plant ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watts_Bar_Nuclear_Generating_Station ) The company I work for owns and operates this site and have been and still is hiring up to 2,300 people to finish the unit # 2 reactor.

This is a picture of Watts Bar Dam the company I work for also owns and operates this and the water is used for electricity and the water also cools the nukes that in turn makes more electricity .

They are talking about putting in a Nuke Plant about 10 miles North of where I live.  They say that the dirt work for this projest will be 2years work for 30000 workers.  They have optioned 20+ quarters from two guys that I know and have the option to purchase until 2014.  Lots of local opposition but personally I hope that it goes, the only currently viable choice here is coal and I believe that that is harder on the environment.
