Trailered 4 motorcyles from Houston to Amarillo Tx.    2013 Goldwing trike, 2008 Harley full dresser, 2001 Goldwing, and my 2001 Valkyrie.    Things went well from Houston to Amarillo where we ditched the trucks and trailers in Amarillo and headed out about 10 am.    While unloading I discovered I left my helmet at home....ha.....so we stop in at Browns Honda dealership to buy a new helmet.   Im thinking 3 ir $400.      Browns Honda guys, really great guys, sold me a 3/4 helmet for $45......yep....brand new helmet....probably made out of Chinese egg shells but has a DOT sticker.     Its working great.    We leave Browns honda and head towards Raton NM.    60 miles away the 2001 Goldwing gets a F1 alarm and is banging and popping and dies at idle.    We head back to Browns Honda and get there about 1 pm.    They drop everything and put their mechanic on it    After about an hr of diagnostics they say not fixable as they would have to order parts.   It is Saturday afternoon and dealership closed Sunday and Monday.    Goldwing owner opts to put back on trailer and go home.     (Sooooo glad we trailered to Amarillo.    We help him load and get him airborne.    About 3 pm and we head towards Raton....again.    We stop just outside Amarillo to gas.    Goldwing trike discovers his front brake rotor is hitting caliper Or front left fork and is eating asay at metal parts.....geez....back to Browns Honda.    Great dealership that cares about out of town riders in a bind.   It is now about 4 pm.  Once again their mechanic is on it.     They discover that he had a new tire put on the front just before the trip and the small motorcycle shop that put it on had put the wheel back on incorrectly.   The mechanic takes the wheel off and properly reinstalls and we are back on the road.   Browns Honda....really great motorcycle shop to have around.     Now we are in Durango and did Gunnison Black Canyon ride Nd Silverton and Uray.    Weather is cancelling the rest of our Colorado trip so this morning we are heading for the Grand Canyon.   74 yr old Harley guy with us has never seen it.   Think we are gonna get wet, just hope he can still see the canyon.    My Valkyrie is doing great so far.   Will tell about the Canyon later.

Digger,

Big-time adventure, for sure! Appears y'all have experienced it all from the Ah-$hits to the Ah-Ha's to the Ah-Greats! Funny, how all the unexpected stuff that comes up tend to be the things that linger the longest in our memories... Congrats on all the successes, condolences for all the not-so-great things... It's all part of it, though, so most of all, glad y'all are having a gen-u-ine adventure!!!

Some riders I know got all the way out there to the grand canyon
and it was so foggy/rainy they couldn't see a thing... they're still
smiling when they tell the stories about that trip, though...

Mike,

I hear ya, bro! Sounds familiar, too... I've actually been to Glacier National Park several times, and it is definitely worth the effort to make the trip. However, I've also been there three times only to be turned away, because they weren't open yet! Every trip was memorable, however, and I'm happy for every one of them!!!

Grand Canyon was in the 50’s and clear of smoke.  Beautifull day.  Headed out and drove to Gallup NM for the night.   This morning leaving Gallup it was 39 degrees.   For 250 miles it ranged from 37-43 degrees. I had on thermals, a T shirt and two long sleeve T shirts, my leather jacket and frog tog rain coat.   Did ok but my fingers were pretty numb.  We traveled about 250miles to Santa Rosa NM where my two riding buddies kept on I-40 towards Amarillo and I turned South on 84 headed home.   I made it to Snyder Tx before dark and got a room.   548 mile day according to the gps.

Got home Friday.   600 miles by trailer (really glad we did as my BIL Goldwing broke down and we were able to send him home with the truck and trailer).  2,748 miles by motorcycle.  The winter storm that hit Colorado ran us out of Colorado.  We got to make a run from Durango up thru Silverton, Uray, and drove the Black Canyon of the Gunnison.   Next morning we left Durango and headed for the Grand canyon.  That night Durango got 4" of snow.   Grand Canyon was great.   here are a few photos
