I have one similar, and it works well enough to give my right hand a break. I never use it for any distance.

I’ve had and used several types of throttle locks. Let me just say the breakaway sounds expensive but after the initial pain and short lived discomfort. It’s worth every penny

I’ve had the VistaCruise on 3-4 bikes. Cheap, not pretty, but they work.

The kick back from the brake lever looks like a good feature.  I have the Break Away and the little paddle on the end of my Kury grips.  Seldom use the break away but it is nice and works well, use the paddle all the time to relax my hand.

I have one similar to the brakeaway, but alot less spendy ( about $30.00 )

I love it and it works extremely well. Never hand a problem and it blends in extremely well.

Thanks for the heads up on that throttle lock it looks like something I might like. I have 2 bikes that need some sort of cruise control assist my Valk and my Vstrom. The paddle helps but on long straight mile munching something better would be nice. Does it fit right over the hand grip?

At least for mine yes. It slipped right over the grip. It took a few minutes of concentrating to get it properly adjusted but it now works great

Which one do you have that's similar to the brakeaway?  I like the looks of brakeaway but don't much like the price for a couple pieces of machined aluminum.   Your link brings up a ebay search for "throttle Lock" which there are numerous different designs so cant find the one you have for $30.

There is a vast difference between throttle locks and cruise controls. (including price and difficulty of install)

Locks slow down going up, and speed up going down, and cruise control shouldn't.

But I never needed or wanted a cruise control on any bike (I rarely use them on cages/trucks, except freeway trips).

The way I use my locks most of the time, is to put it on, but still cover the throttle with the hand.  Most all hand and wrist effort is removed, but if you need a little speed control up or down, you can easily do it with the lock on (it should never be adjusted so tight you can't move the throttle with the hand while activated, that's a big no no).

A lock, in combination with a throttle boss pad/paddle, is all I've ever needed.

I've had the Universal Vista Cruise Universal throttle lock for a year, because the Brakeaway seemed to be too much for my taste.
The Vista Cruise indeed worked flawlessly, but is ugly as hell.

When I changed to Kuryakyn Iso Grips (with Throttle Boss) installed a Brakeaway-Clone I got for 60 bucks at an online-sale, too.

No problems operating and no difference in material or finish to the real stuff.
I won't provide a purchase link, though. You'll find if searching.

Some guys used to install the Vista Cruise Throttle Lock upside down on the handlebar/grip to hide most of the ugly.  They said it worked fine, and so long as the activated up-lever would never sweep your tank while riding, that seems like a feasible way to hide some of the ugly.

My MadCoRider polished billet aluminum (fancy) throttle locks seem to have disappeared from the interweb.

Yep.  Spendy but worth it.  I've installed a Brake-Away on 3 Valkyries and a Magna.  It also is attractive, and aircraft quality.  I rarely use it on Jade anymore, as I also installed a Rostra electronic cruise, which sets instantly.

Fits all models except the Interstate.  Why would this not fit an Interstate?

If you are installing on a Honda Interstate, Honda Sabre, or Honda Stateline you will require part number 5C23 turn limiter.

If you are installing on a 2010 or newer Honda Interstate,Stateline or Sabre, you will need to have P/N 5C23 Turn Limiter. This will keep the cruise control from coming in contact with your gas tank.

Works great!
Went with the 'bottom' design.
10 min. max, to install.

Love the Brake away.  Replaced my vista cruise a few years back.  No comparison with the quality of the Brake away
