In all seriousness, though, I usually cook bacon in the oven. The frying pan doesn't hold enough for the three of us, which is usually when I make a real breakfast. I hate trying to clean the intricacies of a rack, so I line a baking sheet with foil, then crumple up more foil to cook on (kind of works like a rack. Gives a way for air to circulate under the bacon and for grease to drain off). I guess I'll try the parchment paper method. Either way, I'll like it. Not unlike what they say about the relations between a man and woman, even bad bacon is pretty good!  Cool

I have always been a bacon snob I guess. Just fried in a skillet with a cover to minimize splatter mess. But, Brenda has been doing it in a microwave lately. And I must say, it's not bad. I think you need to get the time just right though. I have sympathy for those who's religion prohibits the intake of bacon.

Toaster oven for me (crispy not burned) on foil in pan.  Less heat in the house, and easier to clean.  About 20 minutes @400*.

(When done I set the pan on an angle on a stove burner, and all the grease runs over to one side.)

Throw french fries or tater tots right on the bacon.

Three eggs over easy in butter, and toast with jam.

In fact, I just did this not a few hours ago.  (Burp!)

One of the finest meals ever devised.

I can only remember having bacon one time that I didn't like what I got.
Bacon ice cream with chocolate fudge something.

Not something I'll ever try again.

Other than that, bacon is the meal of kings!!

OK bacon fans, here's a tip.  The best bacon available is Walmart Great Value in the "stack pack".  Made by Smithfield Foods, it is higher grade than what they make for Cracker Barrel, the Army, and thier own Smithfield brand.  Walmart is the largest retailer and a tough customer.  Got that info from my daughter who was a Smithfield quality engineer.
It's a very fine, respectable bacon. There are better for cheaper. We carried a variety of specialty bacons in bulk over the years. A couple of my favorites are the Maple-Pepper and Chipotle-Garlic by Cloverdale. We sold it everyday @ 4.99, sometimes on sale @ 3.99. There are also still a lot of smaller regional smokehouses doing good stuff. There have been many times in life where I ate a lb. of bacon with breakfast, and ate a half gallon of ice cream after dinner. I consider myself a poor man's authority on the 2 items.  Grin

Can't beat the CostCo pre-cooked packs for convenience. We always keep at least 2 packs on hand, so quick and easy to nuke it for just a few seconds up to a minute if you want it crunchy for some quick meat candy...

parchment paper in oven in pan is probably the best method as article said.   Instead of parchment paper, we use heavy duty aluminum foil lining the broiler pan fitting 1/2 lb. bacon at a time in the pan in the oven around 375 degrees or so.   Helps to take out a tad bit early IMO and then lay flat on paper towels patting the top of bacon with other paper towels also helps keep the strips crispier as well.   Trick we learned.

Recently we found out,  another very good way is to use a flat griddle like you have for making pancakes on works VERY well also if you do not want to have the oven on, both ways IMO are best over any other method, speaking of someone who cooks a lb. pkg of bacon about once per week usually on weekends.

AS far as decent bacon,  the stuff at kwik trip gas station brand they sell is very good if on sale as well as sugardale bacon which can be had fairly cheap.  Patrick cudahy and farmland bacon we also like to use over Oscar Mayer bacon we find too salty made at times.   Or, whatever we can find on sale for say 2.99lb. has been lately 3.50 lb. pkg.

Serk,  is that pic correct of Costco 1 lb. of bacon at 11.99 per lb. pre-cooked?  WOW,  you must have money to burn that is a ton of money for 1 lb. of bacon.  Even if is the best and most convenient being pre-cooked, it is still not a steak or lobster/crab...  I have not spent over 3.99lb. ever in my life for one lb. of bacon.

I thought I ate a lot of bacon, but Meathead back in the day use to eat one whole lb. of bacon at one sitting and half gallon ice cream in one sitting is very impressive.  I try to cut out at 1/2 lb. of bacon per sitting and 1/4th tops of 1/2 gallon of ice cream per sitting.  Eating that much bacon or ice cream in one sitting you should have entered some eating contests back in your heyday...   cooldude

I was a cook for awhile in my younger days, and one of my daily tasks was the bacon. We used parchment on full sheet pans. If I remember correctly, it was usually five sheets every morning. Believe it or not, the smell of bacon actually started to bother me.

I've gotten over it.

If you're going to bake it, try sprinkling it with brown sugar first.  It carmelizes....so good.

Yup, Parchment paper on sheet pans cooldude for the best even cooking, easy clean up, no splatter. great taste. That said I rarely do it. I use stovetop with a bacon iron and deal with the mess and cleanup.

Sorry to take a slightly political bent, but gotta love the great Ted Cruz, the 2nd best currently sitting US Senator, even if he refers to a semi auto modern sporting rifle as a "machine gun"...

Honestly it would have been a more effective method with an M60 or at least with the AR on fully automatic.  Yes, I know.  Licensing and such.   Wink

I'm sure Ted Cruz would have no problem obtaining licensing for a full auto.

The licensing yes, could even go rent one at many ranges in the area, the caveat would be, would someone be willing to let him coat their $25,000+ rifle in bacon?

I mean, I would if I had one, but still...

I think she meant who's first to make "machine gun bacon" ? As to the meme, I was looking for a funny sacrilegious meme. And figured you'd appreciate Rand Paul more than a goofy religious one. (No political motivation)
