I can't help but feel sad for this couple and for the loss of that child but, I have to wonder what the heck they were thinking going to an area like that.   Based on what I've been reading, I don't even want to visit California and most of the western US due to wildfires.

A sad, very sad situation that could have easily been avoided.

Very sad.  More than a little concerning is the fact that some of these wildfires were intentionally started.  No idea as to why.  Bad time to have pyromaniacs around out there.

I'm not privy to the specifics of this couples decisions. But, I do know this. Many are overcome quickly with fire. Sometimes they have but 10 minutes of warning. I suppose the same could be said of many people trapped in tornado areas, hurricanes, flood ares, etc. I don't know that it could be easily avoided as you say. I do know I won't judge this couple that lost their precious infant.
