a/k/a Stuffy. '99 I/S Valk Roadsmith Trike

De Pere, WI (Green Bay)

« on: September 13, 2020, 01:03:18 PM »

1999 I/S, $10k, 68k on the clock, rode it home...about 20 miles. After riding 2-wheels for well over 60 yrs. it felt strange to steer through curves and corners. Needs a few things tightened up, left rear wheel sounds like a bad wheel bearing. In general it drove quite well, will be better after I go through it and make it mine.  Overall, I'm quite satisfied, will be selling my current bike and bike hauler trailer after I've switched everything over that I can. I just felt if I want to keep riding I need to get a trike more or less as a safety issue. I'll be 83 when I hit the highways next spring, at least this won't tip over at a stoplight although I did catch myself putting my feet down a couple times. Old habits are hard to change.  cooldude

WOW!!!!

CONGRATS on your new ride, you deserve it and I am sure you will get lots of happy miles out of it  cooldude cooldude

That trike is a beauty and lots of extras AND you found it close to you, it also looks like it has been taken care off.

Are you thinking of getting a trailer that will fit the trike if you are planning on coming over to Florida?

Congratulations John . Happy for you . The third wheel in this case should extend your riding times by years. Enjoy the winter makeout  ah er make over time with it.  That rear view gives a whole new meaning to Phat Gurl Smiley Shes got some nice curves as well .

Wow!!
Very nice! Would expect nothing less from you though.
I believe you have a long time to ride still. Gloria Struck is over 90 now and still on 2 wheels and doing long distance riding.

Great looker there John.  You should be able to get the dollars per mile down pretty far when you sell your 2 wheeler.  Congratulations.

Nice looking trike John! I love the look of the Roadsmith rear end. That is one sexy machine. I can definitely see myself going that route when the knees can't handle the two-wheeler any more. Are you trying to sell your Valk up there or bringing it to Florida to sell it? Don't forget to swap out your choke lever.

Congrats!!!   cooldude smitten
Ride like NASCAR, go in the corner low and come out high, easier to control.   Push & Pull, no pressing.  Run over your feet enough you'll learn. Wink
I'll be calling you soon about your plans about coming down.   Kiss

Beauty of a trike, you definitely scored good on this one can’t wait to see how you make it yours good luck with it she is Purdy. You are right, eventually all us two wheeler’s will have to go to three wheels if we want to continue riding into our 80s Too.

That it does Nick, a 6 degree. Still turns kinda stiff though, characteristic of trikes in general. I plan to swap the entire set of forks since it has a near new front tire & polished forks that I rebuilt last year. Have to get a differential leak fixed before I start swapping parts over. Gonna cost some $$ cuz you have to drop the entire rear end to do it, something I'm not equiped to do.  Angry
