3 days NATCHEZ TRACE PARKWAY
10 tanks of gas
Rain,fog,Mississippi heat.
First long trip on the Valk and I must say the bike is a tank. Any thought of getting a Goldwing is slowly fading. Average mpg 28 high of 33 low of 28. My daughter had a blast and holds the family record of longest bike trip in the family. I do have some things to sort out on the bike a few squeaks and niggles. Riding position needs tweaked my knees started aching used the highway pegs often. I’ve done this trip on the Connie and no knee pain. I believe getting the seat done to raise me up a little will solve the problem.
There’s a lot to see and do and recommend at least 4 days to do it but work and school just wouldn’t allow it. There were a couple tense moments searching for fuel but I had an extra half gallon packed just in case. Technology is a wonderful thing when it work and of course it will fail at the most inconvenient moment i.e. fuel. This was my 2nd of 6 planned trips on the Trace I will take all my kids on this journey as they get old enough. Hopefully the pics will post enjoy....
JJ

These guys made it before the storm we were not so lucky lol

Last fuel stop of a long day she was a trooper didn’t complain once...

Awesome trip and great dad/daughter time, thanks for sharing! I've loved my trips with my older daughter, and as the triplets get older (They're 9 now) the range of their trips will extend more and more (About 100 miles roundtrip is the max for them so far... Only one at a time of course...)

Heh, that's been suggested before, but nah, even if I were interested in a 3 wheeler, I kind of enjoy being forced to spend one on one time with them individually...

Good family fun, Nice pics.   Maybe you could look into a set of peg lowering blocks before changing seats. Worked for me.  cooldude

As good as the stock seat is (best OEM seat I’ve  had On any bike) it’s not a 500 mile day seat. Maybe it’s flattened out over time. I’ve got a guy that will rework it a bit.
Do you have a link to the blocks?

Great post.  Nice trip.  Bike looks great.   cooldude

The Ultimate Big Boy is a great seat, an inch over new stock (probably a bit higher on 20yo stock).

That may be the largest travel pack I've ever seen.  Lacking saddlebags, I understand.

She really ought to wear over the ankle shoes/boots; on a fall and slide (usually backwards) those tennies are coming off.  And not great in rain (though yours was probably warm).

You lived up to your handle nicely.   Smiley

For this particular issue, I highly recommend Mick O Pegs.

The absolute best thing I did to my Valkyries to reduce or eliminate knee/riding position issues.  I don't believe you'll regret it and will wonder why everyone doesn't use them for longer distance riding.

I recently took this pic as I was removing my shifter peg to help with getting it back where it was, but you can see the left hand side peg lowering kit piece on the right of the image...

Edit to add - please note, if you're a very aggressive rider, your pegs will scrape a little sooner than they would if the pegs were in the stock position, but for me that's a trade off I'm willing to make...

Maybe you can find the photo of a young woman whose foot got "gloved" during a bike crash. This may change your daughters mind.  When the skin and some flesh are removed from the foot structure like taking off a glove. Vomit.

I had Kuryakyn Pegs at one time.   Sold them when I mounted the Mick O Pegs.
Everyone has to set their fat gurl up to suit their needs.   Best of luck in whatever you do.

Not to argue too much, but there's always room for a pair of tennies (so she can ride in proper footgear).  Some of my bike boots are great bike boots but terrible walking around boots and I also carry tennies for after riding.  My Danner Acadias, I can walk or stand in all day.

I won't post the foot injury pic Britman is referring to again.  But here's some anyway.  https://www.google.com/search?q=foot+injuries+from+motorcycle+accident&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjbz4zRp-nrAhVSjeAKHYTqBAMQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=foot+from+motorcycle+accident&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQARgAMgYIABAIEB5QvKICWLyiAmDysAJoAHAAeACAATKIATKSAQExmAEAoAEBqgELZ3dzLXdpei1pbWfAAQE&sclient=img&ei=77pfX5ucB9KaggeE1ZMY&bih=656&biw=1418&client=firefox-b-1

If all else fails, an ankle high soft shoe lacer that won't come off in a fall and slide is better than those tennies. And plenty comfortable.
