Just the paint. I wax everything. Prevents dirt from sticking and reduces the chance for corrosion  cooldude

I did my daily peek up under with a flashlight to make sure the clutch fluid leak I thought I fixed once and fixed even more a second time has stayed fixed this time.

replaced the 38 PJs with the OEM 35 PJs in 2 wks ago. she doesn't like the 35s as soon as the temp dropped below 60F.

so putting the 38s back in.

well this turned into more work than I expected.

the forward left carb gave me problems yrs ago with a frozen idle mixture screw. well this time the PJ froze up and then half of the screwdriver slot broke off trying to unscrew it.
so I pulled the carbs and when I did I see the one thermostat housing pipe is leaking at 65k miles.
Is that normal??
Luckily I have two new O-ring spares.

I will be adding an extension to the radiator heat shield to provide better coverage of this left front carb as the right front carb has. Since the left carb actually gets blasted by the radiator hot air flow.

Are you taking the whole set out, or just lifting and taking bowl off with set in place?

I lift and tilt the tank, remove the air box bolt and then raise each side I'm working on. I use an allen wrench and small angle ratcheting screwdriver with replaceable bits.
been doing it this way for yrs. much easier after I de-smogged it.
only issue I have is I cannot drain the bowls since I have a Dial-A-Jet system installed, so a little maneuvering of the bowl and catch container for the gas.

I hinted to the spousal unit and the now adult spawn for a month, finally gave up and just bought it myself... Always heard they work no matter what, but the power's doubled if it's given as a gift.....

Have bought or done nothing to my Valkyrie today. Don't really have anything else I want to add to her after 19 years except maybe another coat of wax. I do need to do something soon though, as she's been a bit neglected the past couple of weeks as I ride and tinker with  my new to me '78 GL1000, so I think I'll polish her wheels this weekend....and if the weather cooperates, take her on a good long ride.

OK then, just make sure you locate it on your bike as close to the ground as possible...so you get the maximum protection out of the 50% protection you'll get by purchasing it for yourself  Wink

As to your question about wax, I have been using Mother's Brazilian Carnauba Wax (pictured in the centre of my cleaning products photo) for the past 10 years or so. It's kept my Valk lookin' like new even after over 200,000 km (with lots of washing in between).

Replaced rear tire, installed balance beads, replaced brake pads front & rear, cleaned coolant tank, flushed front brake MC, replaced LH lower shock bushing and "dusted".  Grin

I made a homemade wooden lift adaptor out of oak 7/8" plank. Still needs some tweaking a little rear heavy but actually worked out pretty well. May still weld a steel version this winter.

Gave it it's annual bath and shining up a couple of days ago.
There's a small, local car show this weekend and I think that I may ride it up there and place a for sale sign on it to see if I get any inquiries.

No but I’ll be all set if I ever have to go to a trike! I do have a spare set of wheels for my Valkyrie so all I have to do is swap them out on tire changes.

Added some new electrical trappings to mine, for selfish reasons.

New Gerbing jacket liner, pants liner, their Vanguard gloves

....but got California Heat sock liners

since the only size of Gerbing I can find online was 'Ballerina' size, instead of 13E.....and the person I spoke with at Gerbing seemed almost smug when he said they have "no plans" to have more in stock, until next riding season.

Oh that's an easy one, I cut the plug off the intercom lead going to the passenger seat. Was too thick to pull up through the space between the fender and frame, I could have loosened or removed the battery box at the rear area but cutting it off was quicker with less messing...and frustration. I have all the pins needed to reconstruct but doubt I will since I'll have no passenger and can't say I'm interested in getting one. I need to remove the trunk so I have an open area to work on and clean the back end of the undercarriage on the trike. Turning into a PITA.

I'm a complete mechanical idiot, and other than not torquing down on the banjo bolts enough the first time around, even I could do it. It's tedious, a pain in the ass, but not too bad.... GOT to have a lift since the sidestand assembly HAS to come off, but otherwise just a tedious pain.....

My bikes (Interstates with fore/aft guards) have been over on the guards a few times.   Not on purpose, and not for long, and I never leaked anything (other than maybe a wet gas cap).  I wonder if you only had a bit of gas in the tank you could lay the bike over on the guards to do that job?  So you wouldn't have to work under the bike and over the jack and (my wood) adapter.  Wouldn't that make it easier?

Not sure I would want to lean the bike on the engine guards..  I also have the wood adapter for the jack and its in the way of pulling the side stand. Doesnt sound fun...

Leaning the bike over on the guards hurts nothing (if there are no leakdown problems during the time it takes to do the job).  Pad the guards if you want (foam pipe insulation, or a piece of carpet).

It can hurt your back/shoulder getting it back up.

I might need to do this job too.
