Couple thoughts... . I went waaay out of my way to duplicate the brake lines with Spiegler steel and in retrospect, not 100% pleased the way it turned out, would do it different if there was a next time... Wondering if there is too much shiney stuff going on. Another maybe next time, to anadize the center of the rotor red... Generally happy another step is done on this thing

Looks real good from here... you're going to leave off the little chrome brake line holders? -Mike

The SS lines are so stiff the line holders twist the things the wrong way, and would ding up the paint too. So, yeah, leaving them off. I will see how it goes, if needed, I think I will fab some holders that work better. I would do the lines all over if the things weren't so pricey.. but I have too much $ in them already...

Again, nice work.

Wondering if there is too much shiney stuff going on. Another maybe next time, to anadize the center of the rotor red... ///////////////////
I think that might look better but who knows? You have the chromed out look with a little color, not sure if the center being colored would be a little over the top? That's the problem with customizing things, you don't really know until you do it.
Black may be better, flat black if possible. Break up the chrome.
Not sure flat would work now that I think about it? LOL. Might be wise to use a photo printer to print off colors you might use then cut and tape it over the part you want to change. Cheap way to get a visual.

Thats the problem when you are chasing perfection.. there's always "what if?' and you never know if you really like it until its put together... on the red rotor centers.. thats kinda why I did the red brake banjo, the red would go with that.. Or.... or... or.... maybe... lol.... its madness

Put the brake line holders on Mello (or fab some from stainless) the lines will abrade your paint in short order. It's particularly annoying on custom paint with multiple layers of clear (don't ask me how I know).

I went the opposite way on my '01 I/S and blacked everything out. Including a set of Unobtanium(TM) Hondaline lower fork covers and Show Chrome radiused caliper covers.
Only things left to do are to get another set of wheels, black them out then order a set of rotors with black carriers and swap the front end around.

What I'm worried about is that it doesn't look like there is enough slack in the brake line. It looks like if the bike was raised, or the forks extended going over a rise, that it could put tension on the line.

It looks like if the bike was raised, or the forks extended going over a rise, that it could put tension on the line. You can't tell by the photos, but the forks are fully extended and the wheel is about a half inch off the ground, so the lines are at max extension too. But you're right, I am stressing over the !ines... wondering if there is enough play in the whole deal. That's the trouble in going custom on things. Sometimes the results screw the functionality. Dunno if I should throw on the OEM. Also did one for the clutch and after a good bleed the clutch doesn't seem to be functioning well.

Mello you're stressing again, that look's about how mine look when jacked up. Fitted mine in 03 and still going strong. BTW my lines came from HEL (here in the UK) very easy people to deal with and they give a lifetime warranty, plus loads of fittings, colours and finishes.

I'm kinda at throw on the OEM for now, just to move forward. My head is spinning on the hold down thing. What would the right part look like? All the movement on the fork is on the lower part and there's near no room for movement on the lines.... aaaaahhhh !!! Another design.....
I just need to get it on the road, I'm kinda burnt on the whole thing......

As for how it would look, I wish I could alter pictures like I know others on this forum can do. Take a picture and then colour what you want, and see how it looks before doing the job.

Plus 1 but it damn sure looks beautiful! Good job! I like red accents on my bike. My grill I painted to match the pinstripe and plug wires are clear red. Pearl Silver/Black offers itself to alot of different color pallets.

You need to set up an account with a photo host site. Photobucket used to be the place to go, but they hosed everyone with demanding money to keep their photos. I think most guys here are using PostImage and is a free site. Someone else here will have to help you with that. Since I am somewhat a photo post addict on many forums, I use a pay site, Smugmug. It gives me full control over my photos and what happens with them, plus I can organize them any way I want.

Hey Mike, just to clarify a little bit. The fender clamps on my IS with the braided lines aren't snugging up on the lines. The braided lines are in there loosely allowing them to slide thru with movement of the forks. They just hold them out from the fender, to keep them from rubbing. The stock lines have a rubber snugging them up. I imagine a rubber snugger could also be used on the braided lines. But they are a lot stiffer and resist this.

Back at it..... So I'm looking at the Spiegler grommets an they dont slide on the lines at all. Then glancing at the OEM parts and they are considerably larger dia... My concern on this whole thing is that the suspension movement is from the bottom of the fork, and needs brake line slack to be functional.. and the stiff SS lines are not helping that.... Or am I overthinking again? Taking the OEM gromment and slipping it over the SS lines there is room for play....

So mounting it all up.. Right Left I am thinking for now the right may be ok, there's a bend in it. The left is shorter for whatever mistake reason I did, but not much room going on. Crazy me, I may make another line thats longer. I am going to be watchin this like a hawk. For the moment I'm done screwing with it.. .I'm doing the bleed job, (lots of fun with bone dry system) and tank goes on next.
