Ok so tonight is the 1st of 3 debates. There’s been some discussion regarding Joe’s cognitive issues and whether or not he’d show up. We all heard of the drug test request. Nancy Pelosi suggested Joe not debate The President. A few weeks ago Joe Biden in an interview said “he’d be the fact checker on the floor” during the debate. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WT0IzcjoZ4khttps://apnews.com/article/09597971cf04f48516eea5a96b963e5dhttps://www.boston.com/news/politics/2020/08/27/biden-rejects-skipping-trump-debates-vows-to-fact-checkI saw the interview, but didn’t read this article until today when looking for it all over again. When I first heard it I thought “how’s he going to fact check during the debate, do the podiums have tablets or laptops?” “Will he pull the info out of thin air or memory or will he have an earpiece?” Recently there’s been talk that Joe would need an earpiece, whether he NEEDS one is subjective to each person’s opinion. Today this comes comes out; https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-third-party-inspect-ears-electronic-devices“ The Trump campaign, in the hours ahead of the debate, claimed Biden's campaign had agreed to such an inspection before reversing themselves.“ “Joe Biden’s handlers several days ago agreed to a pre-debate inspection for electronic earpieces but today abruptly reversed themselves and declined. Biden’s handlers have asked for multiple breaks during the debate, which President Trump doesn’t need, so we have rejected that request," Trump campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh said. "On top of the refusal to take a drug test, it seems pretty obvious that the Biden team is looking for any safety net they can find in the hours leading up to the debate. With his 47 years as a failed Washington politician, how much help does Biden want?“ “Over the last several weeks, sources told Fox News, the former vice president's campaign has also requested two breaks -- one every 30 minutes -- to break up the 90-minute commercial-free program. But that request has been denied by their Trump counterparts, the sources said.” “A Trump campaign source told Fox News that "our guy doesn't need breaks. He gives 90-minute speeches all the time."” Whether or not this is mis/dis- information put out by the Trump campaign for the general public is something we won’t find out. If I’ve read some reports correctly there will be a fact check scroll along the screen during the debate. To be honest, I’ve never trusted those agencies in real time, how in depth can a fact check go? Who owns the fact checking agencies and their agenda. Will it be a just a simple True/False or a visual meter/gauge that looks like a tach or fuel gauge either way who double checks the fact checkers? Will it be helpful to you as a viewer? **Rhetorical question no answer necessary.** Back to the debate issue, whether or not Joe can or cannot or even should or should not has come and gone. I feel as though he’s been manipulated from the start and is being used and those around him should be ashamed of their ruse. The first 30 minutes is going to be interesting that’s for sure and knowing Mike Wallace, he’s going to be on the attack on President Trump from the start. I’m not really sure how he’ll handle Joe. I use to think Mike Wallace was a pretty impartial reporter but the last year has changed my mind on that. I can’t give specifics, just the overall tone of his reports and narratives.

Just guessing, but I bet he starts out easy on both of them, for awhile.
The real question is this.... how long has Biden had all the questions to prep for? It's happened before. Trump certainly won't have them.
I request everyone watching to focus on this question foremost as the night rolls ahead. I think prep on the actual questions should show itself (especially the hard ones). Rehearsal is always more polished than impromptu.

The "topics" were released last week. That's what my Shamm post was all about. They get to memorize the talking points for each topic and spew it back to us. Biden's entire campaign has been "Trump is/was wrong". I hope he uses this somewhere so that Trump can unload on him.

Biden did show up and Trump is having to debate Wallace and Biden. Biden refuses to answers a point blank question will you support packing the Court or ending the filibuster. Bidens response, I’m not answering that. Wallace, silence.

Oh my gosh, Biden looks like a walking corpse. Can't say he gave a strong performance.
Trump is re-writing the rules on political debates. Came across as strong and aggressive.

Pretty much what I expected. What I should have expected but didn't is the follow up of the different "News" folks and their evaluation of the "Debate". I knew Chuck Todd was a Democrat supporter, I see that every Sunday on Meet the Press. But, his evaluation of the Debate was so one sided and condemning of President Trump, Todd is obviously not a neutral or fair minded reporter. He's a Biden supporter and is extremely biased. Todd shouldn't be where he is IMO. I got what I expected from the debate, IMO, President Trump definitely Trumped Biden. He nailed Biden on several important points. Just to reiterate what I have stated many times previously, I'm not DJT fan but former VP Biden obviously doesn't have what the Oval Office requires or needs. I was honestly surprised when Biden called Trump a clown, not once but, twice that I noticed. He was rattled and it showed. Not a characteristic I want sitting behind the Resolute Desk. VP Biden may have cemented folks on his side of the aisle, I can't say but, Trump supporters got what they wanted (I think). The President scored several points by bringing up things like Law and Order, Hunter Biden, the economy and several more. The news of HRCs evil plot to kill Candidate Trumps election campaign sure didn't help the Biden effort. I had a few friends over to watch the "debate", two are solid Democrats, both said Biden didn't do well and got rattled. Looking forward to the VP debates. I really expect a more orderly debate. Well, maybe. Senator Harris can be a wild card. At least that is what Willie Brown said. Rams

Well that was one of the biggest crap show I can remember seeing.
It seemed like too many topics and not enough room for debate.
Hard to comment on Biden without sounding biased so I’ll not make those comments.
As for The President...well it wasn’t his best showing.
My critique of this debate I’d have to use boxing as a comparison.
Joe was slow but effective with his jab and had no good combination shots and certainly nothing good to the body or knock out ability.
The President seemed he was in the clenches too often. He had a few good body shots and was able to get a few combination shots in but the referee was keeping him from getting any good momentum. The President was trying to throw a lot of haymakers instead of precision shots. Lack of experience and style was on display.
Unfortunately The President needs more time to get his points across than Joe,,the President left too much out in many of his retorts.
If the rounds could have been a bit longer The President could have gotten Biden on the ropes and landed a few good shots to the head but he needs more coaching, this isn’t the Golden Gloves, this is a heavyweight title fight.
I give Mike Wallace a big “atta boy” for trying to keep the peace at times, but it seemed his timeline was more important, but there were times this thing could have really run away with itself. At one point I actually thought Biden would walk off the stage.
Biden calling The President a clown...not too good in my opinion but I reality it won’t hurt him.
There were a few things Joe denied saying that are true...YouTube has it, especially the stupid bastard comment.
I’d have to call this bout almost a draw, but I’ll give a slight edge to the President.

Pretty unsubstantial, just a rehash of talkng points on both sides. Disappointing moderation too.
Maybe just letting them both have at it behind the gym would be best after all.

Honestly I don't like either of them but I have to make a choice. I think their are very few undecided people so the debates are more for entertainment. The problem is the 2 political parties are too far apart on their views. Views of everything, there seems to be no middle ground. I do know some of these people just need to retire. Trump made a good point Biden has been in congress for 47 years, why didn't he change anything up to this point? The world moves forward and at some point you have realize you are to stuck in the past. That's about half of congress, we need some new people. This is what's going to happen no matter who wins. The covid shut down is going to cripple cities budgets. In fact whole states, think about FL's economy? Tourist are gone and won't be back for a long time, FL lives on tourists. The city people who can, are running for it. Where I am in SC houses are selling by internet, no in person visits. The builders can't keep up, they are selling everything they can build. Problem there is they are driving up our real estate prices in my area. Not good for the locals especially the young people around here. I have a house, it's worth triple what I built it for be which is good for me but not for the younger generation. That's a whole other problem. With economic stress comes violence, it always does, time and time again in history. There will be violence and civil unrest going forward.

Well, when you have the President of the United States telling a WhiteSupremisist group to "Stand back, Stand by" I would imagine that doesn't help quell civil unrest and violence. As to the problems of our economy, that's on Trump. We have screwed up the response to the pandemic so bad, I don't know if it's not irreparably hurt.

Trump damaged himself badly last night by refusing to condemn white supremacist groups and refusing to commit to telling his supporters to remain peaceful during/after the election. Those were MAJOR mistakes that will have grave consequences.

It was a crap show.
Biden lied several times, lastly about calling the servicemen lazy/stupid bastards.
Trump had it won if he would have acted a bit more professionally.
It did nothing to change my vote.
