https://www.foxnews.com/health/bubonic-plague-infects-boy-china-report

“ The boy’s case came to light following a countywide screening for the disease, which was prompted after “three rats were found dead for unknown reasons in a village,” the outlet reported.”

Why would 3 dead rats cause an investigation?

Rats are a primary food source in some areas in China. They may have to account for each of them and determine a cause of death before putting it on the dinner table

OK Mike
Let's not jump the gun on this.   I'm quite sure the Chinese government has this handled..........   Undecided
