I'm an avid rider. I've been riding over 40 years and owned dozens of bikes...from 250/450 dirt bikes to sport bikes to cruisers. My last two bikes were a new "18 Indian Chieftain Darkhorse 116 and a new "17 BMW R1200GS Adventure. I enjoy both local and long distance riding (I once rode from Raleigh, NC to Naples, Fla non-stop (only stopping for gas, food, and bio). I recently sold the bikes and looking for my next bike.

I saw a 2014 Gold Wing Valkyrie at a local dealer with around 5k miles. Dealer is asking around $9,600 for the bike. I was going to start at $8,500.

I've done some research, both here and elsewhere. I hear the feedback about the seat, the bars, etc. Sadly we sold our house and moved into condo downtown so I only have enough space now for one do-it-all bike for local and long distance. Give me your feedback and advise...

I have one. I bought it when they first came out for full price. I struggled with
the seat and and the handlebars and the windshield, but got it nice, I think.
Mine has $addlebags and I can throw on a Givi trunk for long distance.

They're good bikes (it's a Goldwing!) but they've really dropped in value. $8,500
for a stock one seems like a lot to me now, if you want "do it all" plan on spending
a whole lot more for stuff like bags and seats... and bars if you find you don't
like the stockers. I wonder if Corbin still sells the bags? The other options are
Honda faux leather bags and retrofitted other bags with fabricated mounts.

I still like my "real" Valkyrie and ride it a lot.

I have a 1800 Valkyrie and a F6B both great bikes but if I had to only have one bike I would keep the F6B.
But the Valkyrie is a great bike the Cobin seat is a must buy if you want to travel.
