Order appliances on line from Home Depot. They have strained every nerve I possess all due to the fact they contract out their deliveries. Twice in less than a month I have been notified a day in advance that I have a delivery scheduled. That call is followed up with another call giving a delivery window of between 1-5 PM with a call to be made about 30-45 minutes before the is to arrive. A month ago I wanted until 10pm before I gave up and I had to raise holy hell to get them delivered on the 21st of Sept. Fast forward to today, exact same circumstances it’s 6:15 and no replacement stove, no call about being late, no call about when I could expect a delivery.
You have been warned, can’t blame me. Thankfully little old Richmond, Ky is getting a Menards which is head and shoulders above a Home Depot in every way. Will have to wait until 2021 for it to be completed but I’ve had enough of 2020 already.

On my most recent refrigerator, I went to the Depot and the Lowes.
Lowes always has cleaner stores and better help, but Depot had it in stock and I could get it right away, and Lowes had to order it from somewhere. And Depot gave me current sale price AND my veteran's discount, and Lowes wouldn't.
But the delivery is definitely farmed out. The truck and guys showed up fine, got the old one out and the new one in and started to leave.
Wait a minute, Depot said you'd set it up (shelves, yada). We don't do that. You do too, I'll even show you on the paperwork (and did). OK, you're right (grumble). They did a good job, but missed out on a tip.
On delivery, it doesn't hurt being in a hugely populated area.

Nothing of importance from these box stores is the same as you get from a real appliance or equipment store. They buy stuff built to to their specs and seconds. I've learned that the hard way.

Home Depot here rents trucks for 19.00 and that is exactly why I have never gotten rid of my pickup truck. Always go to a place that I can pick it up and that is exactly what I do.

Part of my problem began due to Covid. Since we are remodeling our house we needed all new appliances. We settled on a relatively new color, Black Slate, and we shopped all over. The “appliance stores” inventories were very depleted And none we visited had our chosen color. Not only did they not have any in stock they couldn’t give a possible delivery date. I had much the same response from Lowe’s and Home Depot. They did try at the store level to help us but kept running into problems of availability. All this shopping was done in June. After a few weeks I started checking on line and ended up on Home Depot’s website and as I clicked on the appliances we were looking for and added them to my shopping cart it was giving me concrete delivery dates. I continued with this process until I had every appliance we were needing in the color we wanted with a delivery date of 9/18/2020. So I immediately placed the order since this looked like the only way to get the ball rolling. That was on July 8, 2020 so a little more than a two month wait. Home Depot here rents trucks for 19.00 and that is exactly why I have never gotten rid of my pickup truck. Always go to a place that I can pick it up and that is exactly what I do.
I have that option available, since I have a truck and both an enclosed 16’ trailer and an open utility trailer from my contracting days. In this case I was buying a side by side refrigerator, a gas range, a dishwasher, a large range hood, and a microwave. Not a job I wanted to tackle transporting and getting them inside my house when delivery was free with my purchase which makes them responsible for any damages in shipping and handling.

Now you know why its free Wow nice to have a few options. Since getting a bit older and smarter I found the hand truck and dolly really are my friends. The wife loves used furniture and that has given me plenty of options to learn how to use them.

On a note with the new Slate finish, (black SS?) we couldn't find the LG microwave at the big 3 box stores but wait DA Best Buy sells them and cheaper than the Big 3 aka Lowes, Home Depot, and Menards. Usually Lowe's has been our go to or our local family owned Maytag. Menards lineup is kinda low rent but... Never had any issues with any as far as delivery and support here except Menards forked lift my galvanized steel sheet order for kitchen remodel. Got the FU in a lot faster than the original order. Go figure. Coffee done time to get some supplies to finish numerous projects. Love being retired!

They didn’t charge “extra” for bringing them to me and as a matter of fact it was not even an option. Pickup at the store closest to me was not available. I guess the extra handling was viewed as more opportunities for damage.

I’ve bought Appliances from Lowe’s for over 20 years with no issues. Just changed all Appliances in my 15 years old house for a great price after they beat Sam’s prices. Have used their extended warranties several times. I in general do not buy extended warranties but consider Washing machines and RefrigeratorIce Machines to be junk from all brands. Not a big fan of Home Depot.

Not a poor choice at all, I am more like an instant gratification type and not trusting the stores to follow up and deliver as per promised. Sometimes the stores do not have it in stock either, so by delivery they come out of a central warehouse to all the stores as needed. I bought from Lowes and would do it again and they usually have it in stock.

Lowe’s is my normal go to place as their store is about 6 miles from my house. Over the past year and a half I’ve probably averaged 2-3 visits per week for my needs, sometimes 2-3 visits a day My reference to Menards earlier is based on my experience with stores in Evansville, Indiana and Owensboro, Kentucky which has been a few years ago now. As I remember their appliances dept is not as deep as Lowe’s and Home Depot but many of their other departments are better and they have products I have never seen in either a Lowe’s or a Home Depot. Having a Menards about a mile from Lowe’s front door will cause them to step up their game a bit.

Having a Menards about a mile from Lowe’s front door will cause them to step up their game a bit. Here in Hattiesburg, MS we have a Lowe's, a Home Depot, a Circuit City and several other big box stores and, we bought all of our appliances at Lowe's with the exception of the washer and drier which we got from Sears. All my "man cave stuff" I got from Circuit City (big screen tv and sound system). I played absolutely no role in what appliances she chose. Didn't care, I don't use them even though I obviously benefit from her using them. We shopped all the bigger box stores and many of the smaller stores that offered what we (she) were looking for. While, she did decide on Lowe's for all the appliances, her reasons were pretty well based on Consumer Reports ratings for the specific brands and options she chose. Lowe's got the business because of pricing, availability and the fact that they would store those items until we were ready to take delivery, then deliver and hook them up appropriately. Although, I have the equipment to transport everything she bought (all in one load) I didn't want to have to unload all that stuff by myself (with her supervision). Lowe's did it and younger backs did all the lifting. That, is precisely why I'm happy. I may not be the brightest bulb in the chandelier but, I'm still lit. Rams

Home Depot’s delivery service has decided to hold my stove hostage until at least this coming Thursday. I told the person I talked to that if they told me the sun will rise in the east, I’d wait until the next morning to verify.
