  I needed a ride today and haven’t ridden the 550 in 2 weeks, so off I went in search of trains. Found an eastbound CSX with an EMD leading in Spencer, MA. There was a guy on a BMW there also, so we had good conversation while we waited. Then in Charlton, I did a little off roadin and waited for the Amtrak 449 going west. I’m liking this little bike, rides nice, well behaved, everything works, 43 years old haha, gotta love Honda’s!! Ride Safe everyone, Craig

 Ain't nothing cooler than Bikes & Trains. Nice old Honda there. Been hooked on Bikes & Trains since I was a kid. My Black one kinda matches the Norfolk Southern paint scheme.

old hondas never die or sure seems like it. My kid only age 19 is on the hunt for old 1979 thru 1983 honda's. This summer I drove up to him in college his frj1300 and due to lack of use and time to ride, he sold it but not before buying an old 1982 honda cm450 custom for 600 bucks. He did a smidge to it like change brake fluid,oil change, etc. and ended up selling it for 1K making a profit driving it only say 400 miles though is all total for a few months owning it. Then, he was out 2 cycles and now has what he really likes, for now anyways, a 1985 v30 500cc honda magna in very very good shape except for the dent in the gas tank. It seems like dents in gas tanks in 80's cycles was fairly common to happen for some odd reason?
He is also on the hunt for a good running 1980 thru 1983 honda 1100 goldwing for 1K or so. Tons of them out there in that 800 to 1500 range to choose from it seems like. I am not too familiar with 1980s 1100 goldwings before my time but I think they are lighter weight feeling than the 1200cc goldwings of the mid to late 1980's, agree?

Just so there’s no jealousy in the garage tonite, this is my preferred way to chase trains.  Oldfishguy, it’s a 77, only made the K model for 2 years. When I bought it, it had been done over, P.O. got fenders and bobbed them, painted them black, after market exhaust, and I got all the original parts & chrome with it. Only thing he didn’t get right was the carbs. So I had the guy that did my Valk carbs rebuild & sync them. It now starts almost as good as the Valk! Craig Oldfishguy, that bike is a beauty!

Craig, 550 looks great  What's the diff between the K and 550 Four? Did you add those exhaust tips to the State?

My 82 1100 is pretty nimble without the trunk, or at least feels that way.. (haven't ridden a 1200). I don't ride it much since I got the Valk so I'm gonna trade it for a rifle, my buddy makes AR's at his machine shop so he'll custom make one to my specs.

The 77' models of the 550's were listed differently as the "K" was the 4 into 1 exhaust and the "F" was the 4 into 4 configuration. Now the 400 of the same year was designated "F" sporting 4 into 1 exhaust. This is what caught my attention as we had a 400F in the stable long ago. Honda in the early years seemed a little Helter Skelter on their model designation. The 1st. letters CB,CL, etc. seemed consistent but....

Y'all showin pics of those old Reliable Hondas makin me miss my old 73 C B 500/4. First thing that got dumped was the stock 4 into 4 for a Kirker 4 into 1. Main drag thru Libertyville Il. at oh dark thirty no baffles in the Kirker and reving past red line brought some unwanted attention for I believe excessive noise. Wrist slap 15 bucks and found other places to git the echo off of the buildings!  I've since gotten a bit more sense-or not!  Good lookin 550 K ya got there.  RIDE SAFE.
