“If elected, what I will do is I'll put together a national commission, a bipartisan commission of scholars, constitutional scholars, Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives," Biden said in a clip released on Thursday. "I will ask them to, over 180 days, come back to me with recommendations as to how to reform the court system because it's getting out of whack."

Someone please explain how the SC is getting out of wack aside from the fact this President has had the opportunity to appoint 3 judges which he was allowed by the Constitution.

The Democrats have had their way with the court for decades and finally the conservative side gets a series of appointments and suddenly it needs to be reviewed.

Yep, spoken as a true progressive. If ACB had been nominated by some democrat he'd be fine with her.

The party of the Democrats made the rules, the Republicans are just playing by them.

Thank Harry Reid and Chuck Schumer.

Let's step back a few feet for a minute. You fellas are real quick to throw out the 'Harry Reid' excuse, but you 'forget' why he went that route.

If McConnell hadn't been pulling his usual bullshit, it wouldn't have been necessary.

Well, once you release that nuclear weapon it’s hard to pull it back, so by all means let’s keep whittling away at our institutions until we can’t recognize them anymore, we can always say it was the other sides fault.

Why should I prove you wrong? Reid launched that weapon because he wasn’t getting his way, the way the Senate has worked for many years, but not to the advantage of Reid’s party. Boo hoo. It’s not fair, it’s not fair, it’s not fair.

Now that same weapon is being used by the other side and they don’t like it. One side can’t decide to change the rules and cry foul when the opposition uses them to their advantage. Sounds like too many Democrats never played sports and if they did cried for mommy and daddy or protested if they didn’t win a game, tournament or championship...thus the need for the everyone gets a trophy mentality.

Now of course since the Republicans are playing by the rules the Democrats created, the Democrats want to change the rules again. Poor, poor pitiful me.

Ya know Bob, you're almost correct but, McConnell was playing by the rules.   Reid didn't like it so, he changed the rules to get what he wanted.  Mitch warned him not to do it but, he did it anyway.

Things seem to work just fine until they don't go the Democrat's way.   So, let's change the rules again.  Yep, that's it.   coolsmiley

Oh, and BTW,  From your article:

Quote
President Obama appeared briefly before cameras to voice his support, saying, "A majority of senators believe, as I believe, that enough is enough." Vice President Biden, also a former senator, told reporters trailing him on a visit to a sandwich-shop opening that he, too, supported the move. Meanwhile, some conservatives were also elated at what they viewed as a Democratic misstep that would open the door to eventual Republican dominance. "Want to repeal Obamacare? Want to pass sweeping national restrictions on abortion?" David Freddoso wrote in the Conservative Intelligence Briefing. "Want to drill for oil in Alaska? Harry Reid is in the process of making all that happen."

Biden supported pulling that trigger.   Opening Pandora's Box doesn't seem like such a good idea now does it?
Think about this, if Harry Reid hadn't pulled the trigger on the filibuster, the Dems could have kept all of President Trump's nominees from getting approved.   Who's fault is it now?  coolsmiley

It looks like we'll finally have a SCOTUS that will actually do what the founders intended:  interpret the law, not make the law.  Those who claim we already had a 'conservative' court must not have been reading their decisions.  Any court that upholds Obamacare, makes gay marriage the law of the land, and prevents the census from asking about citizenship is hardly conservative.  For years the court has been moderate at best, and maybe slightly left-leaning.

So did RBG expect to live forever??? She had the right to step down anytime.

She could have stepped down during BO 8 years and they could have filled the spot with anyone they wanted. She didnt and the system is what the system is...the sitting POTUS makes a selection and as always, the other side is not happy about it...life goes on...

RBG and all the Dems expected HRC to win.   That didn't happen.  Wink
But you are correct, had she retired earlier, it's very likely the Liberals would have gotten another left leaning Justice on the Court.

Trump winning pit the kibosh on a whole lot of things that were in the works. The night of the election you could hear the wind come out of their sails, like a huge whoopee cushion deflating.

Some may remember in 2016 when some of us said our primary reason for electing Donald Trump was his opportunity to appoint Supreme Court justices.  RBG made a mistake assuming the HRC would be elected.  We now have to avoid allowing the Democrat party from taking the presidency and both houses of the Congress.
