This passed Sunday my buddy and I headed out to the Webster bike swap. It’s The First Saturday and Sunday of every month. I saw a lot of tires for sale that looked new, BUT, checking the DOT numbers I did not see any tire newer that 2 years young. I did see tires that ranged from 5 to 10+ Years and even 2 that were 18 years old !!
Here’s a kicker the sellers of these tires told us they were fairly new. The 18 year old tire vender told us I was wrong. I believe that tire was 23/02.
Just in case someone needs enlightenment the first 2 numbers are the week of the year 1 through 52.
The second set is the last 2 numbers of the year.
So 23/02 means the tire was made about the first of June and year was 2002
The DOT numbers are sometimes on both sides of the tire and are in a circle with the distinctive capital letters “DOT” just before them.
Oh yea I did pick up a lot of goodies.
Just my 2 cents if anybody needed to know.

I have never seen a date code with the forward slash / in the number, usually its just a four digit number.
But you never know.

There is no forward slash that was just me separating the 2 sets, silly.
