Upstate New York Near Lake George

« on: November 03, 2020, 01:04:36 PM »

Had a little snow here in upstate New York, another bike season is sadly coming to an end.  I was ready to trade my Valk in this past spring, but due to Covid, there was nothing available. Just as well,  couldn't really find anything I liked as much as my Valk.  I am thinking about a 2021 Gold Wing, but I am not too  keen on  paying for stuff I would never use like the sound system. I don't want to hear music when I ride,  I just want to hear the bike and nature. I wouldn't mind some hard bags,  why can't Honda revamp  the F6B.  Maybe make a bigger power plant.  No-one seems to be designing anything new. Yes, I know the Gold Wing has a small make-over in 2018, but nothing new from Honda since the Valk in 2014.  Are cruisers dead???

Yes, I did look at the Rocket, but my wife rides with me often and the Rocket looked very uncomfortable for a passenger.  The rear of it looks like a crotch-rocket. Also,  closest Triumph dealer is over 100 miles away.

The solution is extremely simple, get the new Wing, a Tour DCT, and keep the Valk!  That's what I did.  You'll love the DCT.  As for the sound system on the new Wing, it's mediocre at best.  It's good to have just in case though.

Crab-balls, the DCT is the automatic model right? Don't you miss shifting?  I like going through the gears.

Yes, it's the automatic version and you will stop reaching for the clutch after a few days.  I was dead set against the DCT until I took one for a ride.  Amazing ride!  And if you like doing manual shifting just select the "M" button and use the paddle shifters on the left grip, shift much faster than a human can with the clutch and I'm lightning fast on shifting.  Once you rack up a few thousand miles on the DCT you'll be glad you got it. That said, I still like my Valk and would never sell it.
