Well the original printing is almost gone (about six left). It's been several months since a lot of you bought a copy. Some of you I'm sure by now have had a chance to read it or at least start to. With that said....

  What did you think?

  What is your favorite story?

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I haven't had the time to read it yet. It's on my "to do" list, just too much going on... Thanks for the reminder though, I think I'll move it up a few notches in priority!

Read all of mine. Great read. Kind of made me visualize when he told me a few of those stories in person.  cooldude

Me too.   Embarrassed

There is a long, cold winter ahead.  I'll get 'er read.  I loved your dad's posted stories like riding his Thumper when he was a young fella -- at night and without headlight,  his Korea tales, the shooting and 2A stories and so much more.  His letters to politicians and paper editors were always spot on.

Looking forward...

Picked up a copy at InZane and enjoyed so much I was telling my dad about it and he borrowed it. He likes the Christmas stories and the ones of when he was a boy. Of course I like the motorcycle stories and found his experience/thoughts/insights on the Korean war interesting and enlightening.
Thanks for putting it together and sharing it with us.

Mark, I have read most of your Dad's book. I guess I can sum up my "review" by saying now that I have a bit more of an insight into his life experiences and thoughts, that Wayne would've been a guy that I would have enjoyed knowing in person. I did have a couple of PM conversations with him through this site several years ago, but I think I would've very much enjoyed sitting down with him and swapping stories in person.
I particularly liked his stories about his time in Korea, as I've always been interested in learning about the experiences of those who served overseas...I'm a big war history buff and what better perspective to get than from those who actually participated.
My favorite story in this book though, is "The Zippo". His emotions of losing, missing, and eventually being reunited with an item that held so much significance for him are definitely felt through his words. I'm glad you and your family decided to do this book...I feel privileged to have gotten to know your Dad a bit through his stories.

Well Mark, you know I have enjoyed the book. I've read it cover to cover maybe 3 times so far and always pick up on something new. My favorite? I always get a kick out of  "Watering the Field". I suppose I find it funny because they were actually not far from Smith Field but yet landed in a field to take care of business.
