Nice day for a ride instead of work! Rolled out at 0700 with the ‘lectric gear on high, as it was 39*!
First stop was in Leveritt, MA where a boat ramp had a cool reflection off the water.

Then on to Deerfield and an excellent run up Rt. 116 to Ashfield. Road was perfect & no traffic at all. Then Bear Swamp Rd. And some no name roads to Zoar Rd and a stop at the Hoosac Tunnel. This monument has been placed there in honor of the men who built the tunnel. And a gentleman who worked for the B&M for 47 years.

Found this rock wall on the way back along with fresh salt ggrrrr tickedoff

multi hosting

And this bridge that I was chicken to go over. I went over it 15 years ago on my VTX, all the boards flop around as you cross.

Decided to run Rt 8a south to check for trains on the B&M. Last spring 8a was kinda rough, but woo-hoo fresh pavement! All the way to 116, sweet!
Found this cool beer sign while hunting trains on the way home. Bill, do you know where it is?

Finished the day watching the sun set over the tracks waiting for the Lake Shore Limited heading to Boston.

Almost 350 miles, no tickets , no road rage, averaged 38 mpg, and pulled into my driveway in a t shirt, it was 77*!

Ignoring news, just riding,
Craig

Watching for trains going by reminds me of my childhood sticking pennies on the tracks (turning them into large pennies).

Dad told me defacing money was a crime and they would come and take me away.

This was so long ago, I couldn't afford to put down nickles and dimes.

Dang Craig ! This might be your best ride report of all time ! Good freakin job ! Alaska has a lot of bridges that look and flop around exactly like that. Love the sign. Thanks, again  cooldude

Hell Yeah, I was there yesterday afternoon watching them make up a west heading train.

You got me hooked on them dam trains. Angry

Man, the last 5-6 days have been beautiful.

Looks like the weather is changing back to normal November stuff. Sad

Bill, I figured you’d know that. I’d like to know the story of that beer window. It’s next to the ice cream window. Something for everyone?.
Ross, I knew someone would go there...just thought it would be Baldo lmfao...
msb, yup, can’t stand the bs anymore
Evan, yes, let’s make it happen, maybe a weekend? Open to all?
Jess, yeah my brother and I flattened a few coins too.
Rob, it’s all thanks to you teaching the dumb truck driver how to post pics !

I feel the need to pay correct honor where it's due. Our departed member Wiggydotcom spent numerous PM's walking a dumb butcher thru it years back. I really miss him. He was a very good dude.

(It wasn't just the pics. The way you wrote the ride up was very good)

No, it's still in Tulsa. There may be a change of plan...

Apparently my bike is arguably the roughest Valk that has rolled into Bob's shop. We're working on alternatives as we speak. I'll probably just have some 'minor' work done and get it back to ride until she's ready for retirement. Currently looking for a good low mileage ride that I can get down to Bob before he hangs up his wrenches.

Highish time on both engine and airframe, about 110,000. I know that's not much compared to many on the board, but this was Bob's thought. That dollars to donuts, the smart money would be to find another bike, do the GLH mod on it, and ride this one til she don't ride no more.

I'd love to have a ride as beautiful as some of these guys have, but I know me. Maybe it'll work out to be a commuter bike, and a shiny bike...lol
