Rather than append this to the current concerning "my President" topic I have started this new topic. So if this topic is locked or deleted it does not affect the other topic and because that topic has move into another direction. The whole concept of "my President" is wrong, period. My indicates ownership or control. As a US citizen and voter you do not have either as it relates to a President. The President is not your property. The office of the President is your property as a citizen and a voter. You can say correctly my presidential office or my White House or my office of the President but "my President" is a mis-statement of fact. (lie) So the concept of "my President" or "not my President" being respectful or disrespectful is a figment of your imagination and a misuse of the language to color discussions. Saying "not my president" is a clear indication of non support for the President, a denial of ownership to those folks that say "my President" and NOT a denial of support for the United States. MODERATORS pay attention here is where I may get in trouble. Biden will never be "my President" and this may be true for half the population because this election has clear evidence of fraud that may have changed the outcome. Biden will never be "my President" because he (and his party) is morally corrupt, truth challenged and mentally unfit to be President and I will not have my name associated with him (or his party). Does this mean I do not support the United States, NO it means I do not support Biden or the democrat party, clear and concise (read what it says, do not read your bias into my statements). Does this men I am a member of any other party, NO I have never been a member of any party and never will. And I have never supported any party and never will. As a free citizen of the United States we have the right to support or not support individual actions and policies and we will (should) always do it at that level. Never at the politician level as "MY" suggests. I realize many will agree and many will disagree, that is your right and privilege. I only request that you not let hate, bias and stupidity interfere with sound, reasoned logical thought. I realize that may be asking to much of many of you, but I can always hope. NOW to save time and effort for some of you. Comments are welcome but do not expect it to change minds or attitudes.

Well said Pete. I agree. As an American citizen I believe the constitution IS the law of the country and is not up for interpretation. I respect the office of the presidency, congress and the senate. BUT I don't not respect many who hold those offices and that will include Biden if he becomes president. I have said it before. If he wins in a fair election I will be fine with that. Won't like it but there ya go. But if it stands with all of the inconsistent ballots, cheating and Biden does win then no he's not a legitimate president. Sorry that's my opinion....

I disagree. You have limited too strictly (notice how I use two o's in too?) the meaning of my. It certainly can denote ownership but not always. "This is MY Country" does not speak of the country I own. Athletes regularly refer to my coach. I refer to my mother and my father, not to mention my brother and my sisters. My friend does not imply ownership. When I served I referred now and then to my captain or my colonel. They would be deeply offended if they thought I meant I owned them.
My president is the person holding that office as identified by our governmental system even if I think that system was misused or misapplied. To say otherwise is to show disrespect for our American form of government.

I only think of a leader as "my" leader if he has direct {authority over/responsibility for} me. Someone above that would be the leader of my organization (being the organization that I am a part of). E.g. John Smith is my alderman, but Mary Jones is the mayor of my town. This is not to say others should have the same way of thinking or that this is definitive, but is merely the way I think and generally express myself. I'm sure someone could run back the tape on everything I've said over the years to hear me contradicting myself.
I will say definitively that Donald Trump is not my president, and Joe Biden won't be either!

While I do agree with you, recognize that someday you may tire of the cold and move south. No, I don't mean Mexico. Rams

"My" can also mean that you are proud of something, as in "That's my boy" or even more to the point....... "My President!" as I exclaimed when the first peace agreement was signed and when the embassy was moved to Jerusalem. Trump did a lot of things that I an very proud of him for doing. He was definitely MY President!

The word was ownership not owner.
MacMillan Dictionary = formal, an attitude of accepting responsibility for something and taking control of how it develops.
