Excessive comfort breeds weakness. PttP

« on: November 13, 2020, 07:48:44 AM »

I received news from one of our members that his mother is dying from pancreatic cancer.  She is five years younger than I.

Adding to the stress his wife has been recently diagnosed with a bad heart valve likely requiring open heart surgery.  She is young at 29 years before my age.

Life presses in upon us in so many ways but sometimes leaves us near being crushed.  Life has been mostly good to me but there have been times.

I would like you to reach out to our brother and let him know he's not alone.  We can't fix for him what's going on in his life but we can let him know he's not alone and we can wrap our virtual arms around him and his family.

Thank you.

We will send up prayers for this young man and his family. I find that as I get older, (I am about a year behind you , I think), I look back on my life and some of the trials I have been through in my time, and all of the dumb stuff that I did, that there must have been a whole lot of people praying for me, and God must have been listening. So, as I said, we will join you in sending up prayers for this young man.

Just when you think you're life could be going better, you hear about something like this. And you know - it makes me feel blessed that it has gone as well as it has.

Brother / sister - What Willow said. We can't fix it, but you aren't alone.

We all need a little extra something sometimes and sickness is sure one of those special needs because we feel somewhat helpless. I believe in the power of prayer and ability of our maker to intervene. I am amazed sometimes at what or Doctors and other health care professionals can accomplish and I have yet to meet one who doesn’t prescribe to prayer. This family will be remembered for sure.

I learned by going through some stuff that for a moment makes you say why me? I learned that everyone has stuff and if you knew what everyone was actually dealing with compared to yourself you might just be a bit happier with your stuff.  Praying for that family

Prayer works.    I have seen it work.   Prayers for this family.  My heart goes out to them.

Total support from me and wishes things were better.

Not to detract from the main topic of who this is for but we’ve been at the bedside of Barbara’s father for the last 3 days, the end is eminent.

To everyone in similar situations, hang in there. I wish I had better words to put down but right now they’re just not coming to me.

Mike, that's OK. You are where you need to be right now. Unfortunately for me - I've been over 1000 miles away when my parents died, same for my FIL. But I did make it back for all their funerals, to be the one everyone else could lean on.

That takes strength of character, I admire those that have the ability. Been though the same stressful situation 4 times last year, lost both my wife's parents, her life long best friend (due to cancer) and my DIL's mother in a car crash.   I'm not sure I stood up to the task as well as I could/should have.   I'll be glad when 2020 is over.
