Amazing accomplishment . I was able to see a bit of the flight live from the front yard, just a bit north of Tampa. To land the first stage for reuse is a huge $ savings for them. May they have a safe flight.

There is ONE thing that 2020 has not been able to screwup for everybody. Congrats to NASA and SpaceX, and hopefully Boeing will get their issues ironed out for their launch vehicle and start making successful flights.

Elon - nothing shuts up criticism like success !

I am a couple of hours away from the Cape here in North Florida.  We were able to see the second stage and a contrail as it sped away into the wild blue yonder.

No doubt a great day for NASA and Space X to get back into launching our own into the the voids of space.   But, I have this itty bitty caution light going off in the back of my head.   I'm a bit concerned with allowing any company or person (Elon Musk) so much control of our future.

Boeing has not got their program going at full speed yet.  If there are others, I haven't heard of them.

If, we don't diversify with competitors in this space exploration adventure, we could have a problem at some point with only one vendor who controls the whole shebang.    What if HD was the only motorcycle vendor out there?   Yeah, I know, I don't trust many people.   Most do what's good for them and not what's good for this country.

Boeing is supposed to be working on their launch vehicle system, it is just that SpaceX got there first. I expect that Boeing will eventually get their issues ironed out and we will have multiple platforms.

That's been addressed, SpaceX isn't the only commercial manned space flight game in town, they're just lighter and nimbler than the other one that's part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program and thus were able to get to space much quicker.

Boeing is also part of the program and has their own commercial manned space flight system in the works that'll be going soon, they're just an aging behemoth of a company that can't move as quickly as a new light hungry one like SpaceX can.

Maybe when Boeing is up and running that itty bitty caution light will go out.   This assumes it doesn't burn out first.   coolsmiley
