I am in the middle of repairing a hydrolocked Valkyrie for a guy from Marysville OH. I need two special 12 point sockets to remove the clutch basket (46mm)and the final shaft nut (36mm). I tried to find a socket that would work locally. I bought a shallow 36mm from Northern tool cut in half and welded a pipe between the two pieces. Viola instant deep socket. That worked..
My brother found the Honda tool for the clutch basket, made the guy an offer on Ebay and bought it. It shipped out last Tuesday the 17th from New Hampshire. Was supposed to be here in New Haven IN yesterday. Tracking number indicates it's in MI. So I called the post office here. It was sent to the wrong place. Address is right but someone messed up. They can't tell me when it will arrive. Might be tomorrow or Friday or next week. In the day and age of computers and bar codes how does this happen? And they want a raise?
I'm stuck. Everything is apart down to the rear case but I can't remove it without removing the clutch basket first. Was hoping to get it done soon. But noooo......Hurry up and wait.....

It'll show up eventually. Maybe send an email to DeJoy? He might know which loading dock it's sitting on. That sucks about having a bike in the air that you can't move, though. It will show up.

Yeah I know. It's just frustrating. The bike is sitting on a bike jack in the front with its rear end hanging from the ceiling.

Welcome to the club, Mark. A few months ago I ordered some glass cleaner from Amazon. It shipped from a seller in Dayton,OH which you know is about 125 miles from us. That package went from Dayton to Cincy to Columbus. It just couldn't find it's way out of Ohio. Finally it jumped the state line into Michigan and sat in Detroit for over a week. 16 days after originally being shipped, the package was delivered on my porch. That's 16 days to travel 125 miles. I could have driven to Dayton, made the purchase, and made it home in 6 or 7 hrs.

Loos like that's the future. All I can say is you can't count on the USPS anymore. I guess we'll have to get used to it.
I bought a smaller item from a guy in Jacksonville. A leisure 4-5 hour ride away. I foolishly had it shipped. He foolishly used the USPS. It went from Jacksonville to Miami to Tampa to Daytona finally to Orlando and my house. All this was in the course of 10 days. When I buy things, I ask for it to not be shipped by the USPS.

I have occasionally experienced a slow delivery by USPS but usually they do an amazing job. Before we get all up in arms for a single bad experience we should acknowledge all the good experiences we have without even noticing. We take a lot of amazing accomplishment for granted.

The USPS has always done good job I thought, until recently. Over the past year or so they can't seem to get anything right.

On the up side, they sure have no problem filling my box with a bunch of junk mail, almost every single day. I hear junk mail is one the important things to keeping them in business. That's awfully encouraging. And if it wasn't for junk mail (and bills) it'd almost be like I didn't exist (post office wise). We're supposed to take our garbage dumpers in off the street after trash pickup, but I don't because that way I only have two steps to put the junk mail in the can, almost every day. Does anyone actually look at that crap? (not counting Victoria's Secret )

We do look at the grocery store ads, but otherwise, it's usually pretty slim pickings of what we will actually read.

Hey, we live in a town of around 20K or so plus another 10K in the neighboring towns (less than 15 miles away). Our mail is not sorted here. It goes to Main office in Medford some 80 miles away. So when the assisted living place here in town sends me the monthly bill it take 3 days to get it. They are less than 3 miles from us. Yeah it gets here but why? Especially during the winter months when the roads are bad and sometimes closed for awhile due snow/ice. This was suppose to be a money saving idea. Yeah right.
Jess, how do you get Victory Secret stuff? Most of our junk mail involves adds for hearing aids and dentist.

Well, I don't anymore. When the wife lived here we were on every female clothing, bikini, you-name-it catalog list known to women. Like 40lbs of paper a week too. After she departed, they kept coming for years. But when I failed to order anything, they finally stopped coming.

Well. As of this morning (the 27th) my socket was in Detroit. It moved there after spending three days is Northville MI. Three days. WTH. Says it's in transit. It still has to go to Ft Wayne's distribution center and then to New Haven. Still no ETA. I hope I get it tomorrow but I highly doubt it. Would like to have it so I can work on the bike this weekend but I'm not holding my breath.
On a related note I bought a carb bank from a guy in MS. He shipped it out on Monday. ETA on that is next Monday. Will have see if they lose that one too.

I ordered a cheapy windshield for my V-Strom off of Ebay. It came from Hong Kong. Ebay gave me a Hong Kong Post tracking number. I knew where it was every day, right up until the USPS took over. Then, nothing until it showed up on my front step. The same evening that I ordered the shield, I bought a used holster from a person in Ohio. Both were shipped the day after I bought them on Ebay. Guess which one I got first????

We applied for Absentee ballots this year. Because of the changes at the polls JoAnn said she wouldn't work there this year. So, we headed south early. She has a bit of an 'in' with the state republican committee because other job. We have yet to receive them. Our local committee office has insisted they were sent so we have been calling the 2 post offices every week kinda sorta demanding and answer as to why we have not received them. Don't have an answer yet. I think our 2 votes would have put the Trumpster over the top.

Update on my missing socket:
Going on three weeks now since it has been shipped. I have been checking the USPS tracking system every day. Since the first of Dec it's showed it is in transit. Last scanned in Detroit. WTH. It shouldn't take three freaking days to get here from there. It spent over three days in Northville MI before going to Detroit for another 4 days.
I have called my local post office and have spoken to a woman who is trying to track it down for me. I called again today but she hasn't heard back. This is getting real old. I can't go any farther into the repair without that socket.
A Valkyrie carb bank I bought off of a guy in MS came after a week. All of the stuff my wife ordered since I ordered that socket from Amazon has been delivered as well. Sorry for the rant I'm just pissed.....

Maybe the socket is simply taking a vacation before going to work. Probably just wanted to do a little sight seeing.

I to have become very distrustful of the USPS. A couple of years back, I had a bike waiting on a drive shaft and pinion cup from Michigan. The parts made it to my driveway before being sent back to Michigan with a notation of “no such address” although all the rest of my mail having the very same address was put in my mail box that very same day. Apparently the substitute mail carrier that day just did that so that he would not have to get out of his Jeep and bring that package to the door.
Then this last summer I mailed a Dyna 3000 to a man that never got it. Tracking showed it being delivered ........... to the opposite end of the building from where it was supposed to be delivered. That building has several business tenants but because the package was marked (tracked and scanned) at the numerical address, the post office considers it delivered. They are refusing to pay the insurance on the package and my customer is just out $400 and a lot of time asking other tenants and the post office for help finding it. I will not be sending any more parts through the USPS and, if I have a choice, no parts will be shipped to me by way of USPS.

Sent small package to friend.
Tracking showed it delivered.
She didn't receive it.
Filed a query with USPS.
Post Office in the town where I shipped to found it delivered to a wrong address but were unable to recover the package.
Isn't that theft on the part of the person who received it??
USPS solution was to suggest the shipper send another package.

That would be ok if the package is replaceable and the USPS is paying for it. After all, the mistake was theirs! But no, as a business, they don’t take responsibility for their mistakes. There are some good people in the post office, but they can only do so much when the people they are working with don’t care.

While back I had posted bout that lawn mower part I'd ordered out of Arkansas. Lets just say my part did some meanderin before arrival at my casa. I could have ridden/driven to that place and back in one day and NOT busted a sweat. I've tracked all my pkgs that had tracking numbers and often marveled at the pkgs travels. As a former over the road trucker I'd have gone bust using USPS "routing". RIDE SAFE.

Got a call from the woman that is helping me at my local post office yesterday. She asked me if I could just order another socket and then send the lost one back when I eventually get it. Uh no. I bought it from a private individual on Ebay not a company. She went on to say she has two Emails sent to the Detroit center with no replies. She told me they are short handed due to covid. I asked if that is the case then why not send packages to other centers that are less stressed. No answer.
This is beyond infuriating. It has been a month since it was shipped from NH. The tracking info still shows it "in transit" just like it has since the first of Dec. I also can't file a claim for a lost package for another 10 days. Did I say how infuriating this is?
