Mine is in a storage unit, far far away. I might not even recognize her....in a good way.

Was 32 degrees this morning. My Valkyrie was comfy at 68 in the family room. If you’re cold they’re cold... bring them in  Cheesy cooldude

Yesterday I rode the Goldwing ~33 miles round trip to the lake for a ruck in the morning, then rode the Valkyrie to a job in Point Loma I had to check on in the afternoon...  Both are running flawlessly.

~80 miles total. ahhhh..  Cool

YES!!! MOTORCYCLES cooldude
In our little region here in the Eastern Fraser Valley of BC, Winter is all around us, but hasn't really decended upon us in the valley yet. Our little mountain is surrounded by bigger mountains covered in snow and ice, but we haven't been dumped on yet and the intermittent periods of rain in between the odd colder periods washes away whatever brine has been sprayed on the hills ...there's a very good chance I might still get a ride in on Christmas Day Smiley.
The Valk had her last ride of the year a couple weeks ago and is now taking a break for a month or so getting new shoes, assorted maintenance, and lots of cleaning/polishing, but I've been getting out a couple times every week on the old Wing. Going "naked" in the Winter really brings an old(er) guy back to the early days...makes me feel young again (or maybe it's just the cold I'm feeling Wink)

Just beautiful country up there!

One day I'd like to ride an old wing like mine (actually like yours) without all the Tupperware. Cruising today at 75-80 mph on my wing.. almost feels like too much rpm action, I think the bike is made to go ~70 mph all day long. It reminds me of our little 82 Mercedes 240D, that car likes to cruise around 70 and feels like too much rpm's above 75.

That's like my diesel VWs - my 2000 NB (stock) would get all wound out about 80-85 MPH - now -  it should pull redline (5000 RPM) even in high gear (at something well over 100)  Evil ( no , it is decidedly NOT stock tune) . Our 2015 Golf is much more refined - it's barely going at 70 MPH - I think 120MPH is quite possible with it (if I wanted that bad of a ticket badly enough).

I always wondered about the diesel VW's.. the old diesels are awesome. We also have an 84 Mercedes 300SD, the super diesel is 5 cylinders vs 4, and is turbo-charged. The SD cruises easily at 75+, I usually cruise right at 82 mph when we're on a trip. Both cars get 26 mpg. I've had several of the old Mercedes diesels, the 617 motor is one of the best diesels ever made, all cast iron and completely over engineered. The cars are easy to work on, if I have a problem with a switch, I can take it apart, clean it up and it's like a new switch.
They're wonderful old machines, heavy as hell and ride like a dream.

One thing you can say about the ALH series ( 1998 - 2003) - they will run forever - but they do NOT tolerate neglect in any form or fashion. This means oil changes on time, TIMING BELTS on time/miles, the other 1001 + details that cars require. The newer you get, the more like a "normal car" they get. My Beetle makes an estimated 140 HP and 210 Lb-ft torque (stock is 90 HP 140 Lb-ft) and can still pull 45+ MPG at 75 MPH. The Golf isn't quite as good on the MPG, but it can still pull 40+ MPG with its DSG gearbox.

Wow, so what did you do to yours? That's a pretty dramatic increase in power production.

I've looked into an aftermarket turbo for the 240D, people have done it and been successful, though the motor wasn't designed for it, likely I'll just let it be what it is, we like to use the car as a Sunday putt around vehicle. My pseudo wife takes good care of it and drives it to work twice a week.

I also have a 95 Dodge 2500 diesel truck, the 2nd gen Cummins is an incredibly powerful and reliable engine, I swear that truck doesn't even flinch on a hill. I used it to tow 16,000 pounds of trailer from San Diego to Sequim Washington, the toughest part was going downhill through the mountains. It has an exhaust brake on it from the PO but I didn't have time to get it working.

Whether it's motorcycles or cars, I choose them by power plant, so far it's working great and I haven't had a car payment in 22 years  cooldude
