Patrick (Pat) Joseph Jamail

December 17, 1951-March 11, 2012

Our beloved brother and friend, Pat Jamail , passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012. A native of Houston, Pat was a well-respected home builder and remodeler, and an active member of the Austin Homebuilders Association.

Pat was an adventurous soul and amongst his hobbies were playing and listening to live music and traveling cross country on his Honda Valkyrie motorcycle with his favorite gal Tx Deb.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, George E. and Constance Fay Jamail and his beloved Great Dane Riley. He is survived by his loving family; Ronald and Sydney Jamail, Mark Jamail, Kimberley Jamail-Ewing, Donald Ewing, Stacey Jamail-Robinson, Carl Robinson, Emile and Lori Jamail, Michael Jamail and Christopher Van Winkle, great niece Genevieve Jamail, great nephew George E. Jamail and partner, friend and love Debbie Adams. He had many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be missed by all.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held Saturday, March 24th at the Lucky Star Ranch in Leander, 318 County Road 290 off HWY 2243. The service will be from 4 until 6. Please plan to come early and stay late and bring your stories of Pat to share.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

...I've got one more birthday before I have to make good on a promise I made when we lost him.... Not looking forward to it, but a promise is a promise...

The procedure is no big deal... now, the prep, that's a whole other story!

...and from what I've heard, getting the prep meds down is an extra fun adventure for someone who's had gastric bypass surgery, but..... a promise is a promise...

Edit to add - And I guess that means I'll need to find a GP between now and then too, seeing as technically I don't have one right now...  Undecided

OMG, didn't even think about that!  Guess you don't have to worry about dumping syndrome... since that's kinda the point. Wink

Response to your add:  Some insurance companies don't require you to have a PCP referral to go to a specialist.  If yours doesn't, just schedule with GI.

Oh wait, that's a whole year away, you prob need a PCP before that anyway.

I met and spoke with Pat at the 2 MI Inzanes.  A very nice guy.  At the first MI IZ he was his usual large self, At the second he had lost a lot of weight, and I don't think he knew he had cancer, as we discussed his weight loss and when I asked how he accomplished the weight loss, he said he was watching what he ate.  He announced on this board that he had cancer, and was gone shortly there after.  Get those colonoscopies done, that was one of his last requests to this group.  Rest in peace Pat.

I happened pretty quickly.  He was already stage 4 when diagnosed.  He had started chemo, but then unexpectedly passed away a few days later.  He posted to the forum up until Mar 10, passed away the morning of Mar 11.

Here's a post from Mar 8:
I have been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Started chemo yesterday at MD Annerson with a 4 hr infusion plus a 2 week regimen of pills that cost $4,700. my copay is $1,600. So far no side effects. I strongy reccomend a colonoscopy if you are over 50. Todays polyps are tomorrows cancer. I have been riding my Valk and it sures feels good to get out in the wind. Please share your stories if you are a cancer patient or survivor. Pat

Please, if you're due for a colonoscopy, follow Pat's advice and get 'er done.

I had my COLONOSCOPY yesterday, 12-18-20, But then Pat you know that.
I wish that you could have gotten yours done, because you would still be here.

I told my Gastroenterologist yesterday about my friend Pat.
And that I preach about getting it done on the VRCC forum every year.
he said it's a great service to the memory of Pat.

The standard prep is really not that bad at all. The proceedure isn't that bad either.

SERK you got this  cooldude

It's time to GIT-R-DONE,  It's COLONOSCOPY TIME!!!

Thanks T.P.  The prep has improved over the years.  It used to be much worse.
