I drove to the seller yesterday to look the bike over in the "flesh".

Liked what I saw. Handed over a cashiers check and rode back home 175 miles in 45-50F temperatures with no heated liner or gloves.

The bike does have very efficient heated grips. 5 settings and #3 was warm enough. The grips along with the ugly but most effective handguards and winter windshield with built in hand deflectors proved a great combination.

When the V1800 came out I didn't like the look of the bike because of the width across the "cat catcher" - Thanks Smoking Joe - radiator pods.

The addition of the V1500 saddlebags changes the visuals for me and makes the bike look more balanced. The owner did a very good fabricating job allowing the V1500 bags to be very securely attached to the bike.

The riding position on the V1800 is very different. More of a horse jockey pose with knees much higher than on my V1500.

I will look into getting some brackets made to lower the footpegs about an inch.

The bike is a rocket compared to the V1800. I would thoroughly recommend anyone thinking of buying a different bike to the V1500 to go ride a V1800. 100mph is easily achieved and on the flat the bike will pull in 5th from 20mph like a locomotive.

This is the 21st century sports cruiser and it is a shame that most will never get to ride one.

Yesterdays ride again confirmed that Bates boots are a good choice for the all weather rider. My toes stayed warm all the way home.

Looks like he utilized the Honda line mounting brackets too? What was the reason for putting up such a well put together bike? I too was sold on the 1800 after my fist ride back in 2001, still want one just not the time yet I guess.

He fabricated the mounting system.

He also has a 2005 ST1300 and college expenses for a child looming.

Agreed, Nice score there Paul

My only experience on one was Psycho's which is set up for a rider almost a  foot shorter than myself.   coolsmiley

Circus bear on a tricycle comes to mind.  But if Hubcap who is my size (but skinnier by a bunch) can get comfy on one I suppose I could also given enough time and money on mods

But I like the f6b's looks myself better that the new valks  Just personal preference

My first impression of the 1800 Valk was not as positive as I'd hoped. The mechanicals are fantastic; the styling, well, is not everyone's cup o' tea. It didn't strike me in a positive manner, but it's growing on me. The 1500 Valk hard bags definitely help the looks. Stock, it looks too burly up front; the bags balance it out. Your new addition is definitely sharp!

As Oss said, I prefer the F6B over the 1800 Valk. But properly set up, the difference isn't as great as it is stock. Well done.

Paul that thing is sweet with the 1500 bags.  Never liked the looks of the F6B, looked too much like a scooter from the back.  BUT to each his own.  That's why multiple types of automobiles each have their fans.

The bags are Corbin.  They fit better because they're molded to that weird fender shape.  But, unfortunately, that also reduces their capacity.  The 1500 bags hold quite a bit more stuff.

Yours seems pretty well pimped out. Mine is three weeks old with 700 and something miles on it. Barebones stock although came with the Pod lights, I do like them and others riding in front have all had positive comments, make you more visible. I haven't been out after dark to comment on that.

I'm surprised Britman's 2 inch ones work. The limit to all the controls,
lines and cables on the bars gets hit quickly. I can't wait to look
and see how his cables and lines are routed...

If it's just the cables and lines, those can be replaced with longer ones, no?

Yes. And also the wiring harnesses to the control boxes have to be lengthened.
If you're willing to extend the lengths of that stuff, there's no limit to what kind
of bars and risers you can get.

I thought the issue was with the display panel and if it would be secure and look ok raised up that far from the bike.

The wiring harness running into the display frob is like one of those
cables that holds up the golden gate bridge... it almost doesn't
need anything to hold it secure. I fabricated a little bracket and
used a couple of fomotion clock mounts to hold my display panel
at a good angle with these bars and risers:

Me too eyeing them but that is all.  still can get easily 2 old 1500 Valks for the price of one newer used 1800 Valk.  Variety is the spice of life right?   Roll Eyes

congrats on getting new BLUE.  I like the color just wish it was a darker blue since the red is a nicer dark red color.  I see the older early 1800 wings when they had 'illusion' blue color and still think is way way too light of a blue needs to be dark blue would prefer it better.  The colors on the older 1800 wings (besides versions of dark red) do not do much for me in terms of wanting one either but a few years they did make a darker blue color also.    I went to look seriously locally 2 years ago at a orange mint shape low mileage 1800 goldwing and just could not get myself to bite the bullet on that orange color much like yellow and white on a wing, not for me.  Dark blue, dark red (maroon), black/gray are my colors of choice.  I do like a nice darker green metallic color as well but somehow do not see too many green cycles out there.  I had a late 1990's chevy s-10 emerald green metallic and a 2007 tundra in green metallic both looked sharp when cleaned up.   Now the colors coming out are weird young kid HIP colors like lunar rock or army green colors, very odd to me.

Congratulations on your nice looking new bike.  I've been tempted a couple times with that 2015 Red Valkyrie with the Corbin bags and clear shield.  One even had a Corbin seat.  I've seen it twice for $10,000.  They go fast at that price.
