The population of the US as of election day was 330,598,493..
The latest registered voter count from the states was was 213,799,467. Which is 0.66729 of the population.

The total vote count was 158,394,605.
And then the so called smart A$$es in the news media report that .667 percentage of eligible voters voted (not registered voters). Do not confuse this with the 0.66729 above the are not the same.

That number is .667 percentage of eligible voters not registered voters. The problem is none of the figures above tell anyone how many voters are eligible. So the .667 percentage is useless unless you know the voting eligible population which is projected to be 239,247,182 in 2020.

So .667 of 239,247,182 is 159,577,870, which is about the number of votes cited.

Hope this helps clear up the confusion caused by the reporting stupidity.

The numbers here are the latest from multiple so called news and gov. sites on the web. And I did cross check with different publications every where I could.

There is no mystery here just stupidity and confusion by the reporting media.

Seems to me that eligible voters should be registered before being allowed to cast a vote. Maybe thats just me though.

Agreed, the description should say eligible to register not eligible to vote. another example of less than precise reporting.
