This is a 72 model for sale on Marketplace. I really wanted one back in 69-70 when a buddy got one while I was in high school.

I had a 65 305 scrambler. Great bike. Bought it new for under (?)$700.00. Had it shipped to Texas when I was in the army.  Ended up trading for a car.

I'm to remember my Honda designations. This was the CL model, I believe ? The CB had down pipes. I can't remember if the SL's went up to the 350 models. I also can't remember the designation for the 305 Scrambler ?

305 Dream  Possibly a CA designation . Stamped steel frame and fork assy.
CB77 Super hawk   Low pipes
CL77 Scrambler     Upswept pipes  ( remember snuffer nots? )

My first rides were as a passenger on a 65 305 Dream with my Uncle Pete. Thanks for the memories and instilling the passion for riding. I so wish he could have experienced the 75 Wing he lusted for, but age put him past riding by then.

They made them. Here's an article supposedly by Super Hunky about them:

I remember the Japanese invasion of the 60s. Said I would never own one.
I remember those old Hondas, everyone wanted one, well, almost everyone. I was surprised at how quick those old Scramblers were.

I put 31,000 miles on my 74 CL-360 from 8/76 to 7/78. Loved that bike, but painted its tins twice to fool the city  police that were always looking for that green Honda....
Great bike but 6th gear was worthless until I changed sprockets ratio.
Had the frame around the rear fender welded twice from popping wheelies with my buddy on the back luggage rack.
Crashed it into the side of a car once, pinching one of the plug wires with the tank and tweaking the forks.
Laid it down on ice, turning into the school stadium parking lot, for many to see and ridicule me about.
Crashed it another time following my buddy’s enduro on a dirt mountain road, slid down the face of a strip mine bending the engine guard in far enough to make it hard to shift, but I got it home.
Sold it to pay my traffic ticket fines, then went to boot camp.
Next bike was a Yamaha XS360 with JC Whitney loud pipes followed by a KZ440LTD that I used to ride from NC to PA on leave. Sold that for a GT550 2smoke, then quit riding until my kids were grown.

This was around 1973-74. My first motorcycle. My wife took the picture probably because she thought I’d would kill myself on it.

Bought it used with less than 1000 miles on it for $800.00 kept it for 2 years and sold it for $850.00. The only time in my life a vehicle deal has worked that way for me. It had the 6 speed which I rather liked.

I still have the title to my 1973 SL350 that was stolen in '75. I am still looking for it and the thief.

Don't know how we did it, but my brother & I talked our Mom into cosigning loans for 2 of those CL 350's from Menard Honda in Chicopee, Mass.  First new machine I bought.

I can't remember if we both got gold ones, but mine was.

I traded mine in for a 250 Elsinore at Popoli Honda in Westfield, Mass

Wish I still had those old Hondas.
