I was doing some reading this morning and came across this from Isaiah 25:5 (Updated NASB) Like heat in drought, You subdue the uproar of aliens;
Like heat by the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless is silenced. I though, whoa, that's interesting. I wonder what that means. I just wonder what is the uproar of aliens?  |

Willow I got curious and read before and after that Bible verse and I still can't decifer what it means. Interesting, but a few verses before that in Chapter 25:2 it talks about "a palace of 'foreigners'' so I would assume Isaiah was talking about what we call illegal aliens as aliens.

Yes. It was tongue in cheek. Most translations use foreigner in that place. We use alien frequently to mean extraterrestrial. He was actually referring to threatening powers outside of Israel. |

I used to spend much time trying to understand Bible verses. It seemed the more I tried the less I understood. With that and the different languages, phrasing, different cultural significances, translations, etc. I pretty much gave up hope of a complete understanding of the book. What do you think it means ? |

What do you think it means ? get a study bible and read the Book of John first. pray to the Lord to give u understanding before u start reading. |

First time I read the bible through, nothing.
Second time, eh, nothing.
Third time, this was not in there before.
Forth time, are you kidding me, that's awesome.
Fifth time the best book I ever read, I couldn't put it down.
Now, the only book that leads you to every area of life, people, wisdom, knowledge and so much more. Started to read and do research on the bible and its pretty awesome where it leads you.
When you look at the world from the context of the bible it makes so much more sense.
One seemingly insignificant line can lead you into so much that it could take some real time to understand all the meanings and areas it can take you to. Partly because when you read it you may not have the knowledge to understand where its taking you.

The prophet was referring to hostile powers from outside threatening Israel. This is what I posted earlier in the thread |
